A COMMUNITY group has been given funding to help plant an orchard at Dunfermline Public Park. Dunfermline Community Project started off as a group of neighbours who wanted to turn an unused piece of land at Leys Park into an orchard but the scheme didn’t get the backing it needed. They have now turned their attention to the Public Park after finding out that Central Dunfermline Community Council (CDCC) were also exploring ways to utilise ground south of Carnegie Hall known as the “forgotten side of the Public Park”. The group has been able to purchase root stock and cuttings from Townhill’s orchard thanks to CDCC’s donation of £150 which was matched by the Mary Leishman Foundation.
