WXXV News 25 June 8, 2021 Over the last year, the casino industry has taken a major economic hit due to COVID-19, but with eased restrictions in place it seems a comeback is on the way. Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce CEO Adele Lyons says the month of April 2021 was the most successful April ever since gaming was introduced on the Gulf Coast. On the heels of a surprisingly profitable time, the chamber will welcome Mississippi Gaming Commission Executive Director Allen Godfrey to speak at their upcoming Economic Vibe event this coming Thursday. Lyons said, “Gaming is huge here in our community, on the coast, really the state and the region. Hearing what’s going on with the gaming industry impacts so many businesses from sales tax to our hotels and our restaurants. It just filters down as a domino effect in the community.”
