Ecotricity announces upgrade to its Electric Highway Mar 12, 2021 10:42 EST with 1 comment Ecotricity, one of the leading renewable energy firms in the UK, has announced an upgrade to the Electric Highway. In partnership with GRIDSERVE, Ecotricity will upgrade the electric vehicle charging facilities along motorways and major roads in the UK to adapt to the latest advances in electric vehicle charging. The Electric Highway was one of the first nationwide charging networks anywhere in Europe having been launched in 2011. To keep up with the advancements, and to prepare for the phasing out of petrol and diesel car sales in 2030, Ecotricity is replacing existing charges with new technology that will double capacity. CCS, CHAdeMO, and AC charging types will be supported and customers will be able to make contactless payments. Additionally, a further 6 to 12 of the newer 350kW high power pumps will be installed.
