'Hedgehog highway' opens near Bristol The new route will help the creatures get around safely at night Updated A hedgehog A special ‘hedgehog highway’ has been built near Bristol - to help the spiny creatures get around safely at night. The highway - in Keynsham - has been designed to allow hedgehogs to roam freely in darkness between gardens and keep them off local roads. The scheme is part of Crest Nicholson’s development at Hygge Park to encourage wildlife in the area and was designed in partnership with Tyler Grange ecologists. The hedgehog highway is complemented by a number of other initiatives at the development, including nesting boxes for a variety of bat and bird species, and a bug mansion.
