South Bend Tribune ELKHART — An Elkhart man is charged with murder after a badly beaten 4-year-old boy died Friday at Elkhart General Hospital. Elkhart County prosecutors Tuesday charged Christian Maradiaga, 19, with murder and neglect of a dependent resulting in death in connection to the child's death. Maradiaga is also charged with interference in reporting of a crime. According to the Elkhart County Homicide Unit, first responders were dispatched to Elkhart General Hospital early in the morning on June 10 for reports of a 4-year-old boy who had been beaten and was unresponsive. The boy died as a result of his injuries on Friday.
