In the US, nearly half of all car trips people take are less than three miles, and most take place on local streets. So why does so much federal funding go for things like highways? For cities to “build projects that offer climate, mobility, and equity benefits on a large scale,” federal transportation funding and policy may need to change. Join the National Association of Transportation Officials for a paneled discussion about how to transform federal funding policies to “better work for cities while addressing the safety, climate, equity, and economic recovery challenges of our time.” This free event begins at 4:15 pm Wednesday, May 26.
