WORK is set to get underway next month to make improvements to Evesham town centre. The improvements will happen on Port Street and at the Waterside/Port Street Junction, as part of Worcestershire County Council’s plan to relieve congestion in the town centre. The works will include repaving the footways on Port Street, the reconfiguration of the area outside the former Talbot Pub, updating traffic signals at the Waterside/Port Street Junction, a new controlled pedestrian crossing across Waterside, the upgrade of traffic signals on Port Street and enhanced streetlighting. Councillor Ken Pollock, Worcestershire County Council’s Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Economy and Infrastructure, said: “The town centre improvements programme has made substantial changes to other areas in the county and it’s great that Evesham is next in line for some work.
