Despite a somewhat patchy performance against Redlands, Mackay and Whitsundays came away with a 3-2 victory that broke an eight-game losing streak. Magpies Crusaders coach Tom Ballantyne said the side was clear in what they needed to do to leave Brisbane with a win. “Having watched what the Wanderers did to the Lions has given everyone a bit of confidence that they’re beatable,” Ballantyne said. “They’re last year’s grand finalists, and they still have some exceptional talent in their team, but everyone’s beatable, so as long as we go out and follow the process and believe in what we’re doing then we have a really good opportunity to win the game.”
