Famous female mummy Takabuti died about 2,600 years ago after being stabbed int he back with an axe, not a knife as previously claimed, according to a new study. Professor Rosalie David from The University of Manchester and Professor Eileen Murphy Queen's University Belfast explored the mysterious death of Takabuti. She is thought to have been a high-ranking woman who lived in the city of Thebes in Ancient Egypt, where modern-day Luxor is today, 2,600 years ago. Her cause of death has been an enduring mystery for decades, ever since she was brought to Ireland in 1834 and unwrapped for the first time the following year.
