Less than an hour to the closing bell. So glad youre with us. Lets start the countdown. Liz the significance of that fire in philadelphia is now truly being felt. Philadelphia energy solutions, we need to tell you, is planning we hear to shut down the biggest refinery on the east coast after that huge fire and explosion last week. The company is citing financial struggles and says it plans to position the refinery for sale and restart eventually but as for the moment, the cause of the fire is still unknown. Will the shuttering cost hundreds of jobs and put the screws to gasoline supplies and maybe prices in the most densely populated corridor of the u. S. . Lets look at the futures right now. This is sort of the wholesale price of gasoline. It spiked on the news, you can see that right there, sort of at the open, and the facility is refining 330,000 barrels a day. We are looking at this price at the moment, it is moving higher by 4. 25 . Hope that doesnt mean the rest of us have to pay more in gasoline but guess what, we also saw, this is only adding to sort of the bullishness in price, a surprise draw in gasoline supplies. We got the inventory numbers today and there was a drawdown. That means there was less there. We are seeing fueling prices lower than expected at the moment. Dow jones industrials on pace for the second day to the upside in just three. We are up 49 points at the moment. Lifting technology stocks, memory chip maker micron technology. Ticker symbol mu. The stock is on pace for its best day in two and a half years. It smashed earnings expectations. Look at this, 12. 75 gain. Nvidia, qualcomm, everybody moving higher, 3. 75 to nvidia, up 5. 25 . When we talk about microns story, its about weathering the huawei storm. After that u. S. Right now, microns figured out a way to still do business with huawei. Elsewhere, poultry processors under pressure as price fixing allegations come home to roost. The United States is investigating whether tyson foods, pilgrims pride, Sanderson Farms and purdue farms colluded improperly sharing data to influence Meat Industry benchmarks. What does this mean . That means colluding to set prices. That is illegal. There was an indictment and now we see a real problem with the stocks at the moment. We will see what happens there. Lets get to this breaking news. President trumps up in the air right now heading for osaka, japan, site of this weeks g20 summit. President trumps meeting with chinas president xi jinping is obviously front page news but the kremlin also confirming today that russian president Vladimir Putin will have a talk with President Trump as well. We go to predawn osaka now to edward lawrence, whos got the latest on the g20 preparations, the expectations and i can imagine even though its in the middle of the night, the air is vibrating, im sure. Reporter oh, yes, theres a buzz in this city. Osaka getting ready to be on the world stage. I know you love headlines from local papers so give you a little flavor here. This headline says osaka getting ready to host 19 other World Leaders. Another one here says the g20 will make life difficult in osaka, because security checkpoints are already being set up. A large portion of the city will be on lockdown to protect all the World Leaders who are coming here. President donald trump will be here later on today which is thursday in japan, in osaka time. The president planning to have more conversations with the japanese prime minister, shinzo abe. Trade will be a huge focus here. Im meeting with russia, im meeting with china, im meeting with many countries. Were meeting with many countries. We have many things weve been ripped off by everybody over the years. Theyre not ripping us off anymore. Reporter and the president saying hes doing that through tariffs, bringing other countries to the table to try and work out trade deals. Theyre hoping to get a deal with japan sometime in the near future. Weeks, possibly. Senior Administration Officials saying that here at the g20 summit, the president will be able to talk to other World Leaders and gain sort of a collective agreement or consensus on what to do about the iranian aggression thats happening. The president blames secretary of state former secretary of state john kerry for making the situation worse, not better. If it werent for him, i really think they would have already been in negotiations with us. Maybe even had a deal. But maybe that wont happen and if it doesnt happen, thats fine with me. Reporter the other meeting theyre looking at closely is the meeting with president xi jinping. The president , this will set the tone on if there can be a nearterm solution to the trade negotiations, the trade war thats going on between the u. S. And china. The president also going on to say that the tariffs, the next round of tariffs might not be at 25 , it could be at 10 against chinese imports into the United States. Well have to see again, a very big week for the tone of those negotiations going forward. Liz can i see that headline again where it says g20 and all of the japanese lettering there . That is so cool. Reporter hold on one second. Let me get that again. Yeah. I figured i would give you some local flavor here. Liz i love it. Reporter i did not translate this. I do not speak japanese. I had the front desk here at the hotel help me with this translation. They were very nice about that. G20 making life difficult is basically what it says here. Liz very cool. All right. We will be looking forward to all of your reports, edward. Thank you so much. We could say, its a long flight, the president has about 16 more hours in the air, but before he took off, he spoke with Maria Bartiromo this morning and when asked about cutting rates, he indicated that fed chief jay powell should take a page out of china and European Central banks inspiration. Maria why do we need a cut in rates if things are going so well, mr. President . What theyre doing is pouring money into the economy and theyre lowering rates. What europe did with draghi who frankly did a great move but hes been doing a lot of good moves, what europe did with draghi, theyre forcing money in. Were doing the opposite. Were taking money out and were raising interest rates. Its insane. Liz so if china and europe as the president says are outpacing the u. S. With accommodative monetary policies, lets just look at that portion of it and ask our traders should we be buying european and chinese stocks and if so, what are the top names we should be looking at . Lets get right to the floor show and Teddy Weisberg talking to our investor audience right now. You know, im not so sure, and im with maria on this, if the economy is that good, why should we be cutting rates, standing pat might work, but lets look across the pond here to china and europe. Are there opportunities you see . Well, i happen to agree with both of you. I dont understand why we are cutting rates, quite frankly. You know, a lot of it is political rhetoric and i guess you just have to read between the lines, if you will. And at the end of the day, the u. S. Economy is still the strongest economy at the moment in the world. So i think the focus should probably be the u. S. And not europe and china. But if you twist my arm liz im twisting. You know, if i had to pick some stocks to get exposure to china and to europe, i would pick stocks like loreal, nestles. These are all Big Companies that have a lot of exposure to china even though they are europeanbased. Liz and theyve got a Consumer Base that is pretty darned loyal, especially when you talk about the eyewear maker out of italy, loreal. Thank you. I like those. We did twist your arm. I hope you dont need any kind of splint. Let me get to scott bauer at the cme. We are looking at opportunities, if there are some, because of the stimulus the central bankers in both china and the European Union are putting in there. What opportunities do you see for investors . So i really agree with teddy. No, we did not talk about this prior to coming on with you. I agree that the money needs to stay here in the u. S. Because you look at europe, you look at china, you know what, theyre running to cut rates right away here because they are economically in trouble. So i want to stay away. I want to have my money here. Now, is the economy, are we on great solid footing right now . No, were not. But if i had to choose between one of the three, theres no question i want to stay with companies that are here. Now, if you twisted my arm, which hopefully you wont do, i would actually look at a stock like alibaba because that has just so much exposure, so much exposure to retail, to consumer, but that being said, you got to stay here in the u. S. Liz okay. Im really kind of vicious here physically. Im whipping you guys up with the twisting of the arms. Alibaba is better by about 2 right now. It is kind of rich at a 34 price to earnings ratio but again, this is one of those best in class names. Gentlemen, we have had some Economic Data but theres something i wanted to just quickly pop out here and that is copper. Copper, nobodys eyes glaze over, its hitting a fiveweek high. You know thats a play on the chinese economy that indicates that as an industrial metal, maybe chinas economy is starting to stabilize a bit. Im not sure about that, because china has had really weak industrial output. But what do you see there, teddy . I have the answer to that and its easy. I have been long Freeport Mcmoran the last five years and i finally gave up and sold it all two weeks ago so it was Perfect Timing for copper to go higher. Thats why coppers up. Theres no other reason. Liz alan, your thought on copper and certainly on oil, where we saw much bigger than expected drawdown in inventories today. First off, i want to point out the obvious that china does not have a free market economy so everybody has had a race to the bottom as far as interest rates. We saw it before a few years ago. To bring in this copper idea, obviously it was a depressed market and you are seeing a bounce, you are seeing metals take off and its playing a little catchup there. Looking at crude oil, very much the same. Its followed whats happened in the macro market and you are getting some relief that we are going to have all these problems solved. You saw the stock market make new highs and the Global Growth slowdown concerns are lessened and now you are seeing crude oil attacking the 60 level which is a very important point here. Liz alan was the only one i didnt have to twist his arm. Im a big guy. Im a big guy. Liz i know. Teddy, alan, scott, not the size of the dog in the fight, its the size of the fight in the dog. I may be small but im tough. Good to see all of you guys. Thanks. Getting chewed out. Liz the onramp for the road to the 2020 elections opens tonight in miami for ten democratic hopefuls including tonights headliner, senator Elizabeth Warren. She spent part of her day doing this outside a facility that houses Migrant Children in homestead, florida. Reports say the president ial candidate did not try to get inside the facility, but used a ladder to speak to those who were inside the walls of the facility. There are approximately 2300 children within those walls. It comes one day after she called for the decriminalization of those caught trying to cross the u. S. Border illegally. Now she and the other hopefuls turn their attention to the debate stage in florida, where we find our own Connell Mcshane. Okay, so connell, beto orourke and Elizabeth Warren are on center stage tonight, because of their poll rankings. What do we expect from that dynamic and quite frankly, for the rest of the people will . Reporter well, the way they set it up, they have so many candidates, 20 in the field all together, you get ten tonight and ten tomorrow. The better you poll, the better your position is onstage. The big names, joe biden, bernie sanders, kamala harris, are all tomorrow night. So it does leave Elizabeth Warren and beto orourke as the top two polling candidates tonight. For beto, this is a chance to really maybe establish himself and move into the Upper Echelon of candidates, where people expected him to be. In the real clear politics average of the polls hes only been around 3 . Tonight is an opportunity in that regard. For Elizabeth Warren, its a chance to kind of keep the surge going. Lot of people maybe a month or so had written her off so early in the campaign, of course, to write anybody off, but shes really come on here. Shes up to nearly 13 , the average of the polls challenging bernie sanders, the experts would tell you, for the left wing of the party. I think a couple things to look at. Number one, you mentioned immigration. Thats a huge one given whats going on at the border for all of the candidates tonight but the second thing for our audience i think will be important, lets see how much she goes after wall street tonight. When you are talking about paying for big democratic social programs, how are you going to do it. Financial services tax, lets see how much that comes up. Thats for warren. For beto its just trying to get up there with the big guys. Liz im watching all of this. There are a number of candidates, connell, who could use a breakthrough performance given their polling numbers. They need to get some attention here. I would surmise cory booker is one of them. Reporter yeah. He definitely is. Just behind where orourke is, if orourke is at 3 plus, booker is right around 2. He hasnt really caught on yet, former mayor of newark, senator from new jersey, getting a lot of attention in the last week, going back and forth with former Vice President joe biden over bidens remark about segregationi segregationist senators over the years. He hasnt really had that moment to catch on so yes, its an opportunity for booker. Also, amy klobuchar, somebody who really hasnt had any traction in the polls, hovering around 1 . She is seen as somebody who maybe follows joe biden were he to falter in that centrist lane. Keep an eye on whether we see any centrist conversations tonight. Im not sure. Liz when you have that many people on the stage, there are bound to be fireworks because people have such a short amount of time to be able to get the collective attention of the viewing audience, right . Reporter no doubt. You would think, you know, its a really good question. Because logically youre right, you would think thats what yo
