doug collins. Congressman, always great to see. Hey, maria, how are you . Maria you did some stores open on friday in georgia, how is it going, whats your take on reopening the country this week . Doug so far in georgia its an interesting time. Ahead of cdc schedule, we reopened ahead of phase 1 and interesting time because of communication issue. We still have stay at home order that goes through april 30th down here and opening up businesses that in a selective fashion while still having stay at home order causes confusion. We want everybody to open. The president wants everybody to open back up but we want people to be safe and people are ready to come back to them. Maria so you want to make sure that those social distancing rules are in place, make sure that we are following all of the guidelines so that people can can feel safe for actually going out . Doug exactly, one to have issues we had down here lack of local input which is state order which is the governor has right to do, areas like my area is increase in positive cases, hospitals able to handle it but its just different in different parts of the region and you have to take different case and especially when you are hot spots still developing throughout there. Maria do you think states getting money in next stimulus bill makes sense to you . How are you looking at the money for
Small Business
and what comes next . Doug a
Small Business
money is what is keeping our businesses afloat and its going to be important. State and locality money is something that we need to look at. We need to make sure its done in a proportionate and in a way that which actually affects the states help them and not just maybe direct things that they have had with. The states that are getting money l of money for federal government for covid response. Now we need to make sure as we go forward that everything is working both government sector and private sector to make sure the economy is working. Maria congressman, let me switch gears, get your take from your position on the judiciary committee, critical week for
Michael Flynn
. I tweeted this out yesterday. Breaking news. My sources tell me that he will be exonerated this week. Here is what ranking
Intel Committee
member devin nunes said yesterday on sunday morning futures about this and i want to get your take on the news behind
Michael Flynn
. Watch this. I know this upcoming week its an important for general
Michael Flynn
. What can you tell us . In that fisa report we need everything be classify sod we can continue the investigation, why is flynn important, because on friday night, thankfully attorney general barr has pointed u. S. Attorney out of missouri to look into what was going on in some of the investigations and we dont know what was submitted to the court on friday evening but we believe that its possibly exculpatory evidence that the government had on general flynn. Maria but what i do know congressman is that those documents are exculpatory evidence and basically what they say they are notes about
Michael Flynns
meeting at the white house with the fbi, that it was a complete setup and that he never lied. Its all in mr. Bakers notes. Thats the exculpatory evidence. Do you believe that
Michael Flynn
will be exonerated this week. What do you know about this . Well, this goes back and something that we have been talking for a long time about. When people talk about the fisa courts, mccabe, all of them in that situation, they runsing why this is important, exculpatory evidence are things that turned over. What we found here is carter page, papadopoulos now flynn and you start putting the case together. Powell has done good job of pointing out and possible movement of his is dealing with in effective counsel assistance which was first attorneys and thats being looked into and im looking reports that theyre filing, that tells me the case is moving forward and u. S. Attorney looking at this, plenty of ways to look and see if there was a problem interview. Peter strzok did this interview. This is the time that comey knew he had free rein. This is nothing more than maria thats right, we will see when this plays out. I understand it will play out this week, but the exculpatory evidence showing it was a trick to get him. Jim comey has spoken about this before, congressman, remember when jim comey was out on book tour and we knew it was a chaotic and with any other administration it wouldnt fly but with this said hey, i want to talk to you, we will send a come of agents down there just to chat you up and thats exactly what they did and cornered him and then some of them said, no, i dont think he lied but, in fact, thats what they charged him with. You made a good point, they initially charged him with collusion, colluding with the russians and yet they they ended upbringing charges about him lying, so there was no collusion in the charge. Doug no, this is what the media and pundits want to tie the administration to russia which has found false at every level and flynn here, jim comey and captain america, so many cracks in his shield. Maybe he will do another tweet about trees, he has mislead the
American People
what it is to be an fbi agent. When you look at what is happening, people needs to be concerned that here is a man that is in charge that could destroy peoples lives. Lets use the chaos to find out something that we dont like about the president. Youre right, they did not charge with colluding russia, they charged him with lying to the fbi which seems under false pretense to get something on him. This is just disturbing. When you are talking about turning over exculpatory evidence. Every citizen needs to be concerned when you have comey, mccabe, strzok, all of them running it, we had a rogue group that was out on their own to take down a candidate and take down a president and this is very disturbing. Its just sad but important for us to not give up the fight, fight in the court when we reauthorized it has to have changes to it, it cannot just be rubber stamp to continue to do what its doing because these investigations show that there was a lot of problems and general flynn itll be interesting to see what happens with this because this is important stuff. Basic 101 for prosecutors and comey and strzok, what they did is just bad. Maria lets see if we will see cabal of individuals to try to stage a coup. Congressman, always a pleasure, thank you so much. Doug great to be with you, take care. Maria quick break, rally underway in the stocks. Mornings with maria. Maria welcome back, markets are higher this morning, take a look at futures indicating gain after start of trading after volatile week last week. Dow industrials up 250 points. Investors are optimistic as states across the country begin to open up their restrictions, ease those restrictions, move toward reopening the country amid the coronavirus pandemic. Dagen mcdowell, this is youre talking 46 to have gdp opening up, dagen, by the end of this week, we should see an impact but, of course, we are all worried about what has taken place in the last month,
Diamond Offshore
has filed for bankruptcy. You the oil
Drilling Company
one certainly filing for chapter 11 claiming it has 430 million on hand and jobs could be lost, coming as
Goldman Sachs
warning that global capacity will be tested in there in as little as 3 weeks. Dagen, you have some real significant ramifications of this shutdown and of the collapse in the price of oil. Dagen indeed, and you brought up the issue of nearly half of the gross method products is reopening this week, but the question is how much of that money start moving again, how many people actually come out and take part in services that are being offered by businesses that are reopening, how much of the economy despite the lifting of the stay at home orders, how many how much of the money actually comes back here because theres some benchmarks that havent been hit, before georgia reopened, we are looking at tests that dont come back positive and that the number of people out in the community, in the states is are negative. 10 or less we were 20 at the end of last week. Georgia at opening of the tests that were being performed 23 were positive, so that would be an indication that many positive, infected people are being missed in testing, so, again, if you still have high numbers. People are smart, theyre not going to go out and start, you know, getting their nails done if theyre not assured by the leadership that they got the number that theyve got this virus under control. Maria yeah, good point. Thats what we really need to see. Major earnings are coming out this week as well, so we are going to see the effects and the anticipation of this shutdown on on the years numbers. We will receive numbers from boeing, big oil as well as coming out. Later this week exxon possible, chevron, alphabet and apple. More to talk about mahoney asset manager, ken mahoney, how do you see
Global Markets
as reopening across the country . We have two tiers here. Am done is appropriate stay at home economy. Boxes are being delivered and cloud for more storage. I think technology is doing good. Oil on the other hand, 14 a barrel on the way delivering at negative numbers. So we have to see the have and have notes quickly shape out and as you were saying earlier we will be watching this closely and the thing is after they open down the road whether or not this was successful in opening up the economy. Maria ken, what do you want to do as an investor, take to the sidelines . We think technology is the leader before the pandemic. Stay far away at the moment, oil, hoe till hotel chains and restaurant chains. Its a quick san diego of putting money there. They want to buy the oil stock, stay away from that and lean towards technology is. Maria i see, all right, ken, we will be watching, great to talk to you, ken mahoney, come back soon, and stay with us, we will be right back. Maria welcome back, beijings negligence. I spoke to senator tom cotton on sunday morning futures and he had this to say what the communist party knowingly did and was aware of the severity of covid19, watch. Tell me what they expected in china and what they didnt want to see they didnt want to happen with the rest of the world being fine . I believe the
Chinese Communist
leaders, when they were affair of the facts by midjanuary made the conscious decision not to explain to the world that it was trance missable between humans and not to ask for scientific help but allow the virus to escape their borders, because if they were going to suffer an
Economic Contraction
, they were not going to allow the world to continue to prosper and china be the only country whose economy was declining. Maria it is a very serious charge,
Mitch Roschelle
lets talk about this. Basically what senator cotton is saying and hes been spot on from day one, he says that it likely escaped from the wuhan level 4 super lab by accident but once they saw that it escaped and it was in wuhan and it was in the hubei province, once they saw a severity they made conscious decision to allow it to escape borders because they didnt want chinese economy contract 20 . Mitch chinese folks were traveling around the world long before
Chinese New Year
and outbreaks in western europes and outbreaks in other parts of the planet had direct correlation back to china and holding back this information and i think the rest of the world as they deal with economic fallout and deaths in their country can start pointing the fingers at china. 6 months ago this was china versus the u. S. In a trade war. Now its going to be a global issue where all fingers are starting to point to china. Maria and we are seeing allies on this subject of the
United States
. The other thing that came up with senator cotton is the constant intellectual property theft and that the
Chinese Communist
party has been stealing intellectual property and cotton told me that right now as we speak they are stealing our research from science labs as theres a race to find a vaccine. He says china wants to try to get a vaccine for coronavirus before the
United States
and, remember, they dont have a moral code. Theyll just start injecting people with things and because of that, he says,
Chinese Students
should be limited when they come to the
United States
. Watch this. We should not be giving visas to
Chinese Students
who want to study advanced sciences. Tom we have train sod many of the communist partys brightest minds to go back to china and compete for our jobs, to take our business and ultimately to steal our property and design weapons and other devices that can be used against the
American People
, so i think we need to take a very hard look at the visas that we give chinese nationals to come to study. Maria dagen mcdowell, hes fine with
Chinese Students
coming and studying our culture, studying the federalist papers and shakespeare, that was the point of senator tom cotton, dagen. Dagen thats a mistake, one, one was made that shakespeare is not american, its british. [laughter] maria right. Dagen i get that. Theres a difference between a member of the communist party or individual who is here for nefarious reasons on behalf of the communist party and students who wants to come into the
United States
and study. The u. S. Should be focused on actually keeping those
Chinese Students
here and giving them the opportunity that weve afford sod many immigrants. Let them stay and start their businesses in the

Trails dramatically in science and math so the pathway will be the other way around in some years where americans need to go to china to learn math and science and study advanced math and science if we dont keep our educational system open in some way. Im not talking about the communist party. Im not talking about the institutes. The
United States is a beacon of freedom and we need to allow people from around the world with restrictions to participate with freedoms. Thats how we remain the super power that we are. We are a haven, a harbor for those people who are being mistreated by the communist government so to say students cant come here is a little error. Maria wasnt that the thinking with the handoff of hong kong that the
Chinese Communist government will see how things will go and maybe they will move that way. That hasnt happened. I think you make the point and i agree, however, how do we know the students are not engaged in espionage situation where they have to go back to the communist government and and report what theyve learned and transfer technology from the
United States to the communist government. Thats talking about a communist country, how do you know theyre not going to direct those people who come to the
United States . Dagen and thats ultimately up to law firm and our intelligence communities to do that. Remember, christopher wray, i think this was a few years ago a couple of years ago warned about the confucious institutes and you had universities shutting them out. We need more of that and then students who are looking for a better life. Maria thats the question. Can we do this . Can we differentiate the
Espionage Network from students looking for a better life . We will talk more about that this morning, stay with us, we will be right but when youre with fidelity, a partner who makes sure every step is clear, back. In 1986, the late reverend

Bill Belichicks dog is named nike. Very funny. Thank you, cheryl. Okay, reopening america, states across the country are easing social distancing guidelines in some areas and some restrictions this week in hopes to jumpstart local economies but health and government officials continue to warn against moving too quickly this coming as new
York Governor Andrew Cuomo will follow cdc regulations and up state new york could reopen may 15th but new york city would need more time. I spoke with
White House Coronavirus response coordinator dr. Deborah birx on her outlook with best way forward. We know what
Vice President pence said, what do you say in terms of where we are and whats most important . Every metro area is different in terms of epidemic. When you look at new orleans they are on the downside and slow number of cases and when you look at detroit they are moving down to the side. When you look at boston and chicago, we are still very concerned about the rate of new infections and at the same time we are track every county including
Rural America to look very carefully about any outbreaks that occur at the county level in rural areas, and that together is really informing how we work with every governor and every state and local official to really ensure that they have the support that they need. Maria joining me right now is
John Hopkins School of
Public Health professor former
World Health Organization collaborator and fox news medical contributor dr. Martie, thank you very much for being here. Good morning. Maria one thing that came out of the interview was dr. Birx told me they underestimated the number of people who have already had it and have antibodies and thats why the test is so important. How are you feeling about the reopening, dr. Birx said we will have social distancing rules in place throughout the summer even if we start easing things up. Are we ready . Well, immunity rate based on
Antibody Test ranges 3 to as high as 30 in chelsea, outside of boston, depends a lot on the geography. We know from sars that immunity lasts a couple of years and similar to mers, but, you know, we have good models of how a business can function through this pandemic and one of those is
Grocery Stores. We didnt know a lot coming into this when we were bracing for the peak. Now we know a lot more. We have seen this business,
Grocery Stores, function with good hygiene and goodies dancing and they have not been hot spots. We now know that one of the big drivers of the spread of the infection are
Mass Gatherings and travel, so much more important than whether or not a business is open, geographic location and its how it conducts its business processes. Maria dagen. Dagen doctor, its dagen mcdowell, over the weekend on greg gutfeld show i said dont expect for very large gatherings to happen until theres a vaccine. Theme parks reopening back to the way they were or being able to cram people into seats at a
Football Game or even a nascar race. Is that wrong . I think thats true for highrisk individuals, but what we have seen in the road map to get back to work is that phase 1 and 2 really still shelter anyone who is high risk, so we know a lot more about the virus. We know its hard for it to hurt young, healthy people, we know the age distribution is such that those under 50 account for less than 1 of all the fatalities. We know that as much as 25 of all the deaths in the
United States have been in nursing homes. We know that the outdoors is safe, thats
Something Else that weve learned. Maria yeah, thats a good point. How important will these testing this testing be across the country . New
York Hospitals are testing antiheartburn medicine pepcid as potential treatment, preliminary test results could be released next week after trials. Do you see this as potential treatment and do you expect as more areas reopen this summer we will see increase in testing to ensure that people feel comfortable going out there that they dont have it . Well, testing does give people peace of mind and im in the minority opinion that testing is probably not the
Silver Bullet here. Testing has greatest value in early stages of an epidemic where you can use it for
Contact Tracing and also useful for putting something on clinical trials, but at this point, testing as in my opinion, a limited value. Now we do get a complete doover come into the fall when the pandemic comes back and we get to start over and use it for tracing. A dr. From
Massachusetts General Hospital noticed in china that among the survivors there were slightly greater proportion on the heartburn medication which is an iv medication given in hospitals so northwell has added it as one of the arms in the hydroxychloroquine study. Maria fascinating stuff to think about pepcid and what is being tried right now. Dr. Makary, great to see you this morning. Thanks for having me. Dr. Marty makary. Stay with us, we will be right back. [narrator] soon, lights will come on. Soon, people will be walking back through your door. Soon, life will move forward. Well welcome back old colleagues, get to know new ones some things may change, but well still be here, right here, so you can work on the business of getting your business back. At paycom, our focus will always be you and well see you soon. Maria welcome back. Small businesses in america are still reeling from the coronavirus lockdowns. More than 250,000
Stores Selling nonessential merchandise have been closed since midmarch. Analysts say that as many as 15,000
Retail Stores are likely to close permanently this year as a result of the lockdown. My next guest is one defiant business owner, opening his doors to shoppers. Joining me on the phone is peter elliots owner, elliot rabin, thank you very much for joining us. Tell us about your reopening. What are you expecting . Well, good morning, maam, i want to thank you all for having me. Well, we actually opened saturday i mean, friday and we got a couple of customers in. We obeyed all of the risks because we dont want to put no one in danger. The reason i did it we applied to the city, state,
National Government within the first 24 hours of the opening of the socalled aid, we got all kinds of wonderful confirmation numbers and no action so i said to myself i have people that have been working for me 15 to 35 years and i will not let them suffer. Its not about me. Its about small retail,
Small Businesses across the country and i find it absolutely absurd that you have made
Liquor Stores, not you but the government of the city and the state made
Liquor Stores essential business when i find that to be quite dangerous. We provide needed items but emotional support for our neighborhood and we did it because its the right thing to do. Maria good for you, so you have seen a handful of customers trickling into your store since reopening. Tell us what youre doing to make people feel safe, handling the clothing and handling items to make sure people stay a distance from one another, what are you doing . Yes, maam, on friday we had top dentist in the city come in. We stayed distance away. We have signs on the window, we will let you in one or two at a time depending on the basically the layout of the shop. We have one person at the register and myself. Other than that. Theyll be nobody coming in. A person in the evening cleaning and myself. We tried everything. But anyway, thats what we are doing. We also as a little bit of a fun kind of thing you can say, calm people down, we invented our own, i guess, you could call liquid vaccination consistent of wonderful drinks. So when they come in maria offering drinks as well . Very nice. Yes, we do. Drinks and masks, no charge at all. I have to tell you the the
Wonderful Police the
Police Department said what are you doing and i said im protecting my business of 43 years. Im protecting peter elliot and peter elliots employees and help the city come back to normalcy which i dont think its going to come back to normalcy any time quick. Maria you never received any money . Did you get money yet . No, not a nickel. We applied for the 485 billion and still nothing. We have gotten confirmation numbers and then we pick up the phone and we try to call them and we get maria elliot, we will keep checking back with you to get your assessment. Thank you so much. Police Union Calling it, quote, idiotic to enforce politics saying its, quote, the ultimate government overreach but county judge lina hidalgo said its meant to save lives. Judge, is this order going too far . Andrew good morning, maria, not only going too far, its unlawful and unconstitutional. Even though this person is called a judge, she doesnt wear a black robe or go into a courtroom. Shes the chief
Administrative Officer of the county. The executive officer of the county. This is the county houston is in. So rather than going to the city council of houston, rather than going to the county legislature, she wrote a law on her own and just as you describe it, a 10yearold can be fined. A fine imposed on the parents. A thousand dollars for not wearing the mask. The police say its a waste of their time to enforce it and as they view the bill of rights they are not going to enforce it and my hat is off to them. More police seem to be more to basic values, bill of rights for which many of them as veterans fought and some died than the politicians are. Maria i understand, but, you know, maybe this is not the kind of thing that should warrant a fine, but at the same time, judge, this is supposed to be to keep us all safe. Me wearing a mask is going to protect me but its also going to protect the people around me. Andrew so you and i wear masks, youre wearing a mask in new york when you go out of the house. A number of states are rolling back restrictions, opening parts of their economies, arkansas, colorado, kentucky and mississippi easing some restrictions today, part of a larger list of states doing so this week, they include florida, idaho, illinois, maine, monday , texas. Some democrat governors in the coronavirus hot spots are taking a different approach. New york governor andrew quo more for one says upstate new york could reopen as soon as may will need more time. Reopening america on tap, tennessee, mississippi and monday takemontana are easing se restrictions, allowing businesses like salons, gyms restaurants to open for business as long as they follow cdc guidelines. Joining us now, new york congressman tom reed and josh got d. Hillaryheimero new jersey. Thanke again. Good to see you. Good to be with you. Maria i love talking with you, the problem solvers caucus, youre introducing a reopening an recovery back to work checklist. Part of the recommendation includes establishing resilient supply chains, each bringing some manufacturers back to the
United States. Congressman reed, tell us about it. Thats one of the key components of the economic recovery is to learn from the covid19 situation and have our supply chains much more protected and redundant and adopt tax policies and policies in washington, d. C. That encourage resourcing of the supply chain on american or at least under our control in regards to the necessary supplies we need to reignite the economy of america. Maria so senator cotton discussed this with me yesterday. Hes very concerned that we get 70 of the active ingredients of our pharmaceuticals from china. Theyre made in china. Watch this. You think bringing pharmaceutical manufacturing back to america is critical. I think most americans are shocked to learn that so many of our basic drugs are made in china. We need to stop that. We need to bring it back to the
United States and get it out of china. So we would give incentives for companies to build plants here, create jobs here, so were not dependent on china in a pandemic or in any kind of health concerns. Maria congressman gotheimer, your reaction, especially since in the middle of the crisis, beijing threatened us. They said maybe if china keeps poking us on these tariffs, maybe we wont send the active ingredients to the
United States. We cant have it if theres another pandemic or outbreak and we dont have supplies here, with youre talking about whether youre talking about face masks, gloves or pharmaceuticals,
Key Pharmaceuticals that we need and ventilators and the items that we have to be able to get out to our hospitals and to our
Frontline Healthcare workers and
First Responders immediately, our families shouldnt have to wait and worry about this. I think its going to be essential. We need our stockpile to have of course pharmaceuticals but also so many items in the supply chain. Maria okay. So walk us through the plan to reopen the country, congressman, give us your best case in terms of slowly but surely rolling open various states. Well, first of all, i think its right to think about it and our plan talks about it, the checklist, to think about it regionally and by sector. Theres no one size fits all to this. The key, and we have talked about this at length, make sure we have testing in place, the right testing and as much as we can for the populations who need it so were prepared. Also, we need to have the supply we were talking about, the face masks and all the personal protective equipment in place, especially for our
Frontline Health care workers and
First Responders. Our hospitals need to be able to hand it. We still have every bed full in northern new jersey. 25,000 cases in my district alone and more than 1500 people have lost their lives. Weve still facing a significant caseload. Its different where tom is, he doesnt have the same situation, although i know hes facing like i am our longterm care facilities are stretched. So we need to make sure that were prepared and ready if there is another surge and thats different in every part of the country. Maria yep. And congressman reed, i spoke with new york city mayor bill de blasio yesterday and he had this to say about the aid that his city should be receiving. I want to get your take, if you think this is going to happen across the country in cities. Watch this. So how much money doyou want,h money do you need from the federal government . All the money thats been lost and will be lost, lost revenue and this is true for new york and cities and states around the country. We need 7. 4 billion. Thats how much we lost. Thats how much we need to get back. Like the federal government bailed out the
Airline Industry to the tune of 58 billion, bail out the largest city in the country, so we can restart and be able to be strong leaders in an economic revitalization. Maria congressman reed, what do you say . Well, first of all, i dont talk about bailouts. This is a
Natural Disaster that impacted all of america. I do support recovery dollars, directly to local governments and im open to state aid because of the devastation thats gone on economically. If we go down the path of state bankruptcy that will have many rip pell effects that will cause further economic devastation to america. My point would be lets protect the local aid, lets make sure the states cant take out dollars at the state level that go local governments. I was a mayor. I saw it happen all the time. Lets make sure what goes to the states is not to use the term bailout, bail out the precovid19 fiscal difficult physician odifficultiesof that. If you come to that compromise you can have a local, state aid package that works for all of america. I couldnt agree more. Maria love to see it. All hands on deck. Go ahead, josh. I was going to say, i couldnt agree more with tom. If we dont get these resources back only for the hits we took on covid, were going to lose the protections we need, our firefighters, our cops, and our teachers. Its really going to have a
Significant Impact on our communities. So its got to be focused to those local communities. Maria very important conversation here, congressman many thanks for working together on this. Tom reed, josh gotheimer. Great to see you both. Coming up this hour, i will speak with former state
Department Senior adviser for
President Trump and george w bush, special envoy christian whiten is here this morning. Starwood capital group, barry sternlick here, weighing in for his expectations for economic recovery and real estate. Next hour ill talk with
Hudson Institute senior fellow
Michael Pillsbury on chinas negligence over the coronavirus. Also senator
James Langford is here on potential bailout funds for states. All coming up right here. Stay with us. Mariadagen kim jong un out oft but reportedly still alive. A foreign advisor to south koreas president claims the north korean dictator is alive despite reports of a botched surgery. New satellite images appear to show kim jong uns train outside his compound in a resort town. Reports about the dictators apparent death spread in recent days after he missed major north korean holiday earlier this month. Joining us now, former trump and george w. Bush state
Department Senior adviser, former north korean human rights deputy special envoy, christian whiten. Do you think kim jong un is still alive. It is a big question mark. This is the thing with north korea, the focus on north korea, our 80 billion
Intelligence Community really isnt that helpful. We dont know whats going on. The armored train which we all love could be there, just because kim is consisten conval. He could have had surgery, thats the report, he had a
Heart Disease incident and he could be waiting to bring him back, it could be waiting to bring back his corpse. It could be ready to bring him back from vacation. This is my guess, he left pyongyang, even though they say they dont have any coronavirus in north korea, i think its probablyeprobably endemic and pa serious problem. He could be convalescing but we dont know. Maria its interesting, christian. Maria here. Its interesting that north korea was the first to shut its borders to china amid this coronavirus scare. And i dont know in terms of coronavirus happening in north korea but whats your take there . Yeah, i think it really is widespread. I dont believe its in any way contained. You have the northern border of north korea which is a little less pouless porous under the rf kim jong un. But a lot of smuggling takes place. It used to be fairly easy to bribe north korean border guards. You have people and goods moving across. Even if they closed the crossings theres a fair amount of cross polli nation. Theres half confessions and false information. My guess is it got in and north korea would be in a bad position to handle this, a bad position to treat its citizens and actually it doesnt really care about anyone other than the very elite of the regime so my guess is again, as with north korea, were guessing, the situation there is probably pretty dire. Maria christian, what do you think if he does not return . I mean, some people are saying if kim jong un does not return, his younger sister, kim yo jong or his uncle, kim poin hill could lead the her mitt kingdom. What hermit kingdom. What do you sunshine. The uncle is probably more likely. He was a diplomat for 40 years. He hasnt spent a lot of time in north korea. Hes been abroad most of the time. He wasnt seen as a serious rival to kim jong un. His actual son of the founding dictator of north korea so he has some cred there, hes a half brother of the previous dictator, ki kim jung il. I think it makes more sense than kim jong uns sister. It would be extremely unlikely for a woman to lead north korea because of their culture. That would be almost as surprising as a woman leading saudi arabia or iran, for example. It doesnt mean its impossible. But i think the thing to take away that is the military is really in charge of that state. Their culture, their people have been pulverized more than any other people on earth by the stalstalinist regime. Incidentally, i dont think it necessarily leads to civil war or crisis or refugee exodus. This is one of the most controlled governments in the world. Maria let me ask you about chinas response and whats happening now in the world in terms of all of this legislation coming out in the
United States to hold china accountable for this coronavirus. Yesterday, i spoke with
Senate Armed Services
Committee Member tom cotton on sunday morning futures and he said that the
Chinese Communist party knowingly allowed the coronavirus to escape its borders, once it was aware of the covid19 severity. Watch this. Tell me what they expected in china and what they didnt want to see from they didnt want to happen with the rest of the world being fine . I believe the
Chinese Communist leaders when they were aware of those facts by midjanuary made the conscious decision not to explain to the world that it was trans dismissable between humans, not to shut down travel, not to ask for american or other
International Scientific help but to allow this vie jus viruso escape its borders. If they were going to suffer economic difficulties, they wouldnt allow the rest of the world to prosper while their economy was declining. Maria cotton is basically saying yes, it got out likely by accident out of that wuhan lab but once they recognized how severe it would be, they didnt want to see a 20
Economic Contraction in china and the rest of the world contract 2 . You believe what in terms of what the
Chinese Communist government withheld information about the virus, right . I certainly do. I think tom cottons absolutely right. The smoking gun is they started to consistent strain internal travel realizing the need to do that in order to mitigate the runup to the peak of this outbreak in china but they didnt stop international travel. So you couldnt travel within china but if you were potentially infected you could go back. I know people in the white house are personally pissed off, the chinese, they came to sign the phase one trade deal with all handshakes and hugs, not particularly cool. I talked to a lot of people on the hill. Its particularly interesting
Going Forward economically, how this dislike of china, which was already sort of we already had the seed change in the election of donald trump getting tough on china, how is it going to manifest itself. A friend in the white house pointed out what was going to happen in the next ten years of changing the trade relationship with china might be compressed to the next one or two years. Maria im going to stick my neck out on this one. I do not believe the
Chinese Communist government is going to keep up with the buying of the 250 billion of goods that the president is expecting in that phase one deal. Christian, thank you for joining a. Well see you soon. Up and down. Depression to exuberance. And you could name many, many cycles like that over the years. My generation, having come through so many wars and so many things. Paying the bills, millions of americans expected to have trouble paying credit card bills this year, largely because their finances have been depleted by the coronavirus shutdown. The wall street journal this morning writes this, companies and
Analysts Expect delinquencies and chargeoffs to soar later this year. Banks can shoulder the unpaid loans for so long before they face a reckoning soon. People who have no idea when they will be back at work, that likely will not be enough. Sobering story in the journal this morning because we are going to see companies go bankrupt, we are going to see individuals not able to get through this shutdown. Dagen right, indeed. We should point out that many of these large credit card companies, capital one, discover financial and
Synchrony Financial among many are letting borrowers pause their credit card payments for a month or longer, some are lowering or waiving late fees, interest charges, even forgiving portions of customers balances. This is the right thing to do. And that is why its so critical to reopening these economies, safely, i might add, but getting people back to work because ultimately thats the fix that we all need. Maria lee carter in. Small Business assistance have been disappointed how the banks have responded and havent gotten the money they need. This is a real, real problem. We havent begun to see the full impact of it. Because if we dont get to work as dagen is saying, we dont reopen the economy, even though states are starting to reopen, we know that people arent going to be behaving the same way, we know people will be pulling back, we know businesses will be pulling back on spending. Weve been talking to a lot of our clients. We know there are concerns about changing how things will be done this year in their budget. Theres a big impact here and many people are looking at this more of a financial crisis than they are a
Public Health crisis because more people will be impacted financially in big ways. Maria yeah. Well,
Mitch Roschelle, i think that managers today are thinking about how their business looks different when we get out of this. On the other side of this. Yeah. Operationally i think its going to be very, very different and to the point lee made, i think the real challenge to look for is the spend. Think about it. We talked earlier about it, about 47 , roughly 50 of the economy is opening by state. But we have an economy thats driven by the consumer. And if consumers arent consuming because theyre out of work or theyre worried about the future, that doesnt mean that our economy is going to bounce back or half of it is going to bounce back. The real thing to keep an eye on is the spend of consumers and their propensity to do so and the fact that credit card bills are mounting up and rent is due, those are head winds for the average consumer that even if their local town is open, they may not be spending. Dagen one thing ill just add, maria, that i said from the beginning. We dont know how many jobs are going to be destroyed permanently. We see the pileup of potential bankruptcy filings in the retail industry. Thats worrisome. We look at the
Energy Companies, them being so hardhit. How many of these jobs dont reappear on the other side of this
Health Crisis . We still dont know that. Maria no, we dont. Were going to take a break. When we come back, were watching gains at the start of trading this morning. Weve got a rally underway as states across the country begin rolling back restrictions and hitting restarts on their economies. How fast is too fast, star wood capital ceo barry sternwood joins us with his expectations for a rebound in the economy. Back in a moment. Seeing the break in the clouds before anyone else. Im maria bartiromo. It is monday, april 27th. Your top stories, 7 32 a. M. On the east coast. The week is kicking off with a global rally as hard hit areas of the country see a decline in coronavirus cases and they begin easing some restrictions. Markets are higher across the board. Dow futures up 208 points right now, just under 1 . The s p is up 24. And the nasdaq higher by 102 points, better than 1 right now. This after the dow, nasdaq and s p 500 ended the week lower last week despite a rally on friday. All the major indices in the red on the week. The dow industrials down almost 2 , the s p down 1 and a third percent on the week. Global markets this morning are higher, european indices higher across the board as the coronavirus cases and deaths decline in many areas of europe, fq100 up 91, cac up 86 and dax up 260. Italy still a major issue by the way. In asia overnight it was green across the board. The big winner was japan, the bank of japan extended the stimulus program. It pledged to buy an unlimited amount of bonds to keep borrowing costs down. Nikkei average up almost 3 overnight. Quick programming note. Join us tomorrow, one of americas top philanthropists
Michael Milken is using the power of the institute to bring together leaders in industry, government and medical research to aid in the war against the pandemic and find a vaccine. Hell join me live tomorrow morning with a special interview at 8 00 a. M. Eastern. Do join us for
Michael Milken tomorrow. Shocking new video of a packed house party defying covid19 restrictions. Cheryl casone with the details. Cheryl and the video, maria. Good morning again. Reckless and utterly unacceptable, that is what chicagos mayor is calling this new video. It showed more than 100 people shoulder to shoulder, dancing and drinking. One appear goer said there were about 1,000 people between the yard at the house at the party. Police are investigating the video. Police say the homeowners could be punished. Illinois has over 44,000 cases of covid19. Chinas lucky coffee is under investigation. The company said 310 million in 2019 sales were made up by some of its workers. The
Company Shares that trade in america, theyve been suspended. You recently spoke with sb chairmachairman about companiest list here and dont follow the rules aimed to protect investors. Its long been the case that u. S. Investors have wanted access to
Foreign Companies and emerging markets and we dont want to deny them that access. But what we do want them to understand is that the risks are different. And you really have to look at this on a sector by sector, country by country basis. Cheryl lucken, which claims to be a rival to starbucks in china, says it is actively cooperating with the inquiry. Finally, tampa bays mayor sent tom brady a hilarious welcome letter and apologized after the super bowl mvp was kicked out of a local park for breaking coronavirus lockdown orders. The mayor wrote i couldnt help but have someone investigate the goat running wild in one of our beautiful city parks. No harm, no foul, thanks for being a good sport. Tom, its tampa bay. You win us the super bowl, well discuss. Those are your headlines, maria. Expect more out of tampa bay in the coming weeks. Maria i like it. Good stuff. Cheryl, thank you. Cheryl you bet. Maria we are gearing up to restart the economy in a slow and rolling fashion. Some states are easing restrictions on stay at home orders, allowing businesses such as salons, gym, restaurants to open as long as they follow cdc guidelines. Joining me now is
Starwood Capital
Group Chairman and ceo, barry sternlicht. Hope youre safe and strong. Thanks for joining me. Thanks, maria. Good to be with you this morning. Its been a long time. Maria it has. And i want to ask you about your expectations for a recovery. Youve got your hands in so many businesses and have a great
Vantage Point in understanding how things might change. What are your exec stations for a recover expectations for a recovery and a reopening. Its all about the pace of the reopening and im glad were getting on with it, frankly. I think ive been quoted as saying we should open the economy, i really believe first we should take care of the people who are most at risk, elderly and people with preconditions. They should use their judgment and stay home. But the rest of the nation has to get on with this. You kind of know that next year at some point well probably have a vaccine so the question is how do we get from here to there and minimize the damage to the lives of so many people that are unemployed and their families and net worth and businesses so we actually are doing the right thing, selectively opening the economy up and its the only actions you can take. I heard yesterday some mayors say well stay closed until we find a vaccine. The country will be worse than the
Great Depression if we adopt that path. We really if you look at the data, study the data, looking at sweden or the rate of in new york, how many people have had it or the california coast and dont have symptoms or the ship that was just 80 of the people on the ship showed no sign but they all had covid, showed no sign of the disease, we really have to move on with this. And its critical. Because the government cant keep printing money by the hundreds of billions of dollars and pretend it doesnt have an impact long term on the wealth of the nation and the economy and the health of our country. So, inmean, weve done the right thing, tried to get money to
Small Businesses. Its time i think in certain places this i is zip code by zip code. In florida, the north is having a different experience than the south. You monitor and see how it goes and slow down or accelerate depending on the reaction in the hospital systems. I think in california in particular, perhaps because they shut down so early, they have not had the kinds of waves of cases a that you have on the east coast. Look, im guardedly optimistic. I think the real estate needs the country to open and its interesting, maria, because i think a lot of people focus on whether were going to
Pay Debt Service or collect rents but beneath the after the debt service, after the rents, you have real estate taxes, municipalities are expecting to collect. Are we not going to pay. Insurance premiums are being charged as if were operating our properties. We have no tenants, no revenue. Theres a cascading effect to people not paying rent. The good news is that for the most part, people are paying their rent. We own were the fourth largest owner of apartments in the nation. 98 of our tenants paid rent for april. So may will be another month. I think actually if people think youre opening the economy, people will pay their rents. If they think were going on holiday for a year, i dont think people pay rent. Thats how it cascades into a negative reinforcing circle. Maria its really a good point and getting your
Vantage Point in terms of the apartments and who is paying back rent, its great to hear you say that 98 of the people are. Tell me about youve invested and led this industry for so many years, travel and hotels. How do you think this industry looks different when we come out of this, barry . Because i know that a lot of managers right now are thinkings about retrofitting, thinking about how they need to change, whether its circulation, ventilation, spacing the tables differently. Are you working on new innovations in terms of how the hotel and travel industry looks different when we get out of this . Let me say one thing first and i had a conversation the other day with a zoom call with charlie munger, asking him how this recession differs from the
Great Depression, its one of the few americans you can ask that question to. And being 96 years old. And he said you know, back then we didnt know anyone would find a job. There were no jobs to have. Here, you have 26
Million People unemployed. We know exactly where they came from and how they get back employed. Part of it is
Hotel Industry. We have to bring our people back. If there are guests. So what each sector of the real estate economy has to do is build their protocols and standardize them throughout the industry, the
American Hotel lodging association, i was talking to ceos of hyatt and hilton the other day, i mean, were going to develop a
Good Housekeeping seal of approval, how you open a hotel so we will
Temperature Check you most likely as you come in, you might have to sign a liability waiver because no businesses can open knowing that an individual could sue them. We dont know if they would have gotten covid in our hotel, in the car to the hotel, on the plane to the hotel. Kissing their parents before they got on their trip. So we cant have that liability cloud over the entire industry and then were going to learn how to operate our hotels in a smart manner. We will do less restaurants, more room service. We will probably have fewer groups for a while. And the bottom actually, the transient boxes, the courtyards, hampton inns, extended stay will probably recover faster. I think we will get back to the life we knew precovid sometime in the
First Quarter. Im going to hold onto that theory and were going to plan for running our hotels with 30 occupancy, then 50, and how we adjust our cost structure to stay solvent as we ramp up. Maria really interesting stuff, barry. Youve been thinking about this a lot. I love all the things youve talked about from the
Temperature Checks to the room service to feeling like you can see a comeback in the
First Quarter. What do you think about markets, barry . Your thoughts on investing opportunities right now . You see this volatility in the e market, they dont really know. Investors, the investor class doesnt know necessarily what will work and when we will be back to normal. Are there investing opportunities here from your standpoint . Yeah, well, stock markets become of course its sort of the covid or the optimists and the pessimists. The optimists are buying the companies most benefiting from covid which are the amazon, walmart, netflix, the things that you do when you stay at home. The best opportunities probably, those are
Good Companies but even chipotle because you may see peak earnings because people are where they havent been ever which is in their houses all the time. The depressed stocks are the ones hit by covid, the
Airline Industry, the
Hotel Industry, anything travel related, retailers. So they have the most volatility. And thats probably where you can find the best bargains but you have to make sure that the patients going to recover. We have looked in the hotels worldwide, in the
Hotel Industry as a sector that looks interesting because people will travel again. I should also say, if we have standards for hotels, we need standards for airlines. Its not going to be an issue for americans to get
Temperature Checked before they get on a plane, and if people would let us like they did in china tracking their history, you can do this on your iphone, the technology exists, tracking if youve had it, if you have an antibody for it. I mean, the testing will help but it wont be definitive. I think if you look at the disease, i mean, it appears to really attack the aged significantly more than others. And well be okay. I think well be good. Maria all right. Really good stuff there. Were buying here and there. Maria dont be a stranger. Barry sternlicht joining us. Well be right back with more mornings with maria. Stay with us. Ars serving the military community, weve seen you go through tough times and every time, youve shown us, youre much tougher your heart, courage and commitment has always inspired us and now its no different so, were here with financial strength, stability and experience you can depend on and the online tools you need because you have always set the highest standard and reaching that standard is what were made for founder of

Financial health and the coronavirus, a new study from bank rate pounds americans are growing increasingly concerned about money. The hyped up anxiety following the first wave of stimulus checks. Joining us right now, senior economic analyst, mark hamrick. How concerned are americans about their financing amid this pandemic. How do you see things. Good to be with you, maria. The majority of americans are concerned about their ability to pay bills. 60 tell us they are either moderately to extremely concerned about that. It is worth noting that that has been diminished slightly, apparently by the passage of the cares act because before the bills passage into law, that was of course the 2. 2 trillion measure that included the elevated
Unemployment Insurance benefit as well as that first round of the payroll protection. But elsewhere, the secondary concern, 57 of americans are concerned about job security and 55 are concerned, moderately to extremely concerned about the value of their investments. Its worth noting that obviously this is majorities across the board and obviously elevated since the outbreak and the economic downturn began. Maria dagen. Dagen what do you expect to see in the coming weeks . Because, again, many of these individuals got 1,200 a person, 3,400 for a family of four. But i have friends who have been deeply anxious because they have had trouble with the irs website, trying to figure out when their money when their stimulus is going to arrive. If we go on a few more weeks, dont you expect these numbers to spike . I do, dagen, because leting think about the often cite citek rate data and others have done exirable research, comparable research, that before this began, when we were in the midst of the historic economic expansion, only a certain percentage of americans could pay for expenses from savings. With paychecks having been eliminated, for each additional week of the lack of income and as you say, it does not take long to find anecdotes about state
Unemployment Insurance websites and systems breaking down, its a worry. Maria mark, its great to get your insights this morning. Thank you, sir. We will see you soon. Weve got a market that is higher this morning and while many sectors are taking major hits during the coronavirus pandemic, esports is seeing a huge spike in virtual coaching. Cheryl casone with more on that story. Cheryl, this is a good angle. Cheryl its really interesting. This is a billion dollar business and its getting bigger. Video game coaching has exploded over the last few months during the pandemic as esports programs have increased in colleges and major tournaments have emerged around the world online. An online marketplace saw a 43 jump in the number of coaching sections booked in january and march. In march, another company, gamer coach, sold more than 1,000 hours of virtual coaching. That is up from about 650 hours in february. That gamer coach is fielding about 10 applications a day for people that want to sign up to be coaches. Coaches can make up to 25 an hour these days, 10 boost since before the coronavirus virus. The games vary, whether its fortnite, rainbow siege or overwatch, a multiple player shooting competition. The shooting competitions are getting more popular. The coaches usually have other jobs but a dozen hours a week of coaching has become the new normal in addition to regular gigs. As millions file for unemployment benefits, around 26 million so far, many are starting to see online esport competition not as a hobby but a potential career. Google and youtube are benefiting from this trend. We want to take at some of the video game companies. A lot of green numbers, take two

M. Eastern, for a very special interview you will not want to miss we will do that tomorrow. First chinas deliberate
Coronavirus Response i spoke with
Senate Armed Services member tom cotton yesterday on sunday morning futures says the
Chinese Communist party knowingly hobbled covid19 response to protect its platform. That i believe was a deliberate and conscious choice by
Chinese Communist leadership because they did not want to see relative important i and standing in world decline because this virus was contained within china if going to suffer
Economic Contraction not going to allow world to prospect china only country economy declining not seeing absolute decline in their economy but refused to see a relative decline especially relative to the
United States. Maria joining me right now hutson
Institute Senior fellow about
Michael Pillsbury always great to see you. Thanks so much for joining. Must mthank you, maria. Senator cotton was among very first to raise this is hand about the wuhan lab, where he said it was probable that the virus escaped from that super fourlevel
Biochemical Lab located in wuhan, so what he is saying now is that it may have escaped by accident. But once the
Chinese Communist government figured out severity of covid19 how bad would it impact their economy and their their country, they made the conscious decision to allow to it escape its borders it could have been contained in hubei provincial they wanted to it escape saying to themselves were not having our economicrat by 20 from the rest of the world contract 2 let everybody feel the pain you are reaction . Well, i have seen senator tom cotton on your show and several others make these allegations. I think the important thing is
President Trump says he has an
Intelligence Community investigation started. To get to the bottom of it. Even more important than that maria what will senator tom cot don to get his legislation passed. There is about 71 builds by senators past your on china vary twice hold china accountable do you know how many actually passed or even gone to a committee . Zero. Weve got grandstanding going on right now on china for a year. And in each case, chinese pushed back, they watch it will lobby against it make sure it doesnt go through frankly im very discouraged one of the most obviously, examples you covered many times retiree funds going into what is called thrift savings plan to support chinese militarily companies in
South China Sea so forth that bill, there was a bill to block that got almost no cosponsors next week military and several reservists
Retirement Funds going to
Chinese State owned
Companies Take this, 71, 70 more capitals maria what you get from my chinese friends at the meal over the phone they are laughing, they are laughing. We talk about it we are outraged make allegations, then no action, because of the power of the china lobby including american companies. It is not good news that it is senator that does this it is discouraging. I make a lot of good points i want to get back to the china lobbying because i have comment about that. But let me say on this, im sorry go ahead michael. Martha maccallum asked senator cotton how many cosponsors he had when to the floor for a vote he kind of get irritated with it. Well hes got three pieces of legislation, obviously, one is about the pharmaceutical sector, and the supply chain, meaning come back to america, and another one, is about military spending. Increasing military spending so that we have the kind of presence in the
South China Sea so
Chinese Communist party does not bully and militarize the south china see which they have already done you touched on something i have covered a lot this morning breaking news on this there is an open letter to
President Trump and called dont fund our enemy, and this is 130 influential
Government Military business
Public Policy leaders, are
Freedom Fighters writing to
President Trump this weekend the letter just went live right now, few minutes ago, urging him maker the retirement money for
Government Employees is note vested in
Chinese Companies saying he must quote act before any thrift savings plansriching
Chinese Party enabling further malevolence directed at the state this is. It is 500 billion dollars as i know they want 10 into the msci deduction loaded with
Chinese Companies some of these companies are following, abe
China Technology subsidiaries produce range aircraft unmanned airport systems weapons for
Peoples Liberation army china bill
Naval Corporation guided missile, consequential
Submarines Nuclear power ballistic mils this manufacturers video kaerlz used to track would you agree uighurs in camp,
Telecom Company engaged in economic trade activities, violation of u. S. Laws then china contradiction company, over half of chinas dredging
Industry Capacity subsidiaries observed conducting activity support of beijings illegal island bill activity in
South China Sea extraordinary to me they want 10 of thrift fund into these companies, ultimately these companies will be up against the
United States, because we know chinas goal want to be number one military power isnt that right . I support the letter, but it he is going nowhere the names missing are mcconnell,
Kevin Mccarthy
Nancy Pelosi Chuck schumer, donald trump, you know this is another example where
Chinese Ambassador to go laugh at us we are going to use your money, your retirement system to fund our military, and all you can do is get a alert from 135 people . It is a joke maria, we had warnings about china i have been involved 20 years nothing happens we cant just give credit to the signers of letter not invite them back a month from now money goes through, for all
Chinese Companies, said and. What happened weve got to have
National Leadership on these. Another is that another communist party has
Espionage Campaign going out so we were talking about earlier, tom cotton another thing he said we should not be giving visa to say
Chinese Students who want to study quantum computing a. I. Advanced sciences that is what they want to put students in there and report back to the chinese government, i think it is important to understand, that it is very difficult to distinguish who is actually here to be learning and study and who is actually coming here to steal and to be part of this espionage companion universities are going to resist this because
Chinese Students are cash continuous the
College Administration wants money that is the bottom line you said chinese lobby that is what
Chinese Communist party has been effective at create loibz done with hollywood, done it with universities, then youve got those two groups spending out against any any you know, anything against china. You are coming around to my persistent of view maria the legislation in letters are great, i am all for it. Some comes out of my own books, but when others a staffer for 10 years, senator wanted to get a bill passed into law, to introduce 40 or 50 other senators cosponsoring, from both parties, not same as two senators going on fox news, weve got to get smarter, or the chinese who study this they have got phds american congressional politics, and i call them on phone what do you think if tom cotton this or that . They laugh say he he has three cosponsor, by the way, there was a beautiful piece legislation last year, marco rubio did
Technology Czar in white house, describes how it worked, he got six cosponsors went to ron johnson memos landed
Security Committee and died no hearing no action, but at the time marco rubio went on fox i want a
Technology Czar mark was it walker of virginia is my cosponsor. Nothing happened weve got to get smarter maria especially. Knew know we have been on it on this program watching this situation that is very, very serious moment in time. It is great to get your insights michael thank you, sir. Maria i earned the right to ask senators what are the results of all this one year later. Youve covered it. I will do that
Michael Pillsbury good to see you, sir. Thank you so much fox business alert

That is not the real tale monday not as bad as seemed quite good if able to take physical supplies you made some money if you were not if a hedgeer speculator eetf trader you probably took a bath it is going to get really bad the problem is demand. Will many of the shale producers be unable to bounce back . This morning another massive selloff in the price of oil i recognize this is largely demand related, demand has been shut off across the world as you say no travel, airlines transportation, et cetera, we have
Diamond Offshore we have one other
Shale Company has already declared bankruptcy protection, how many do you expect . What percentage are you expecting will not be able to make it in the shale business . As many as the quarter or more could be at risk on the brink it against how long this happens. We keep talking about
Government Intervention i know administration has been seeking different ways to try to help, i think liquidity particularly for operators that really have strong underlying fundamentals that are have difficult time accessing capital in days market will benefit from some access to the do have the loan programs. Small Business stimulus is on the way joining me right now is oklahoma senator member of
Senate Finance homeland
Governmental Affairs
Committee James Lankford thanks very much for joining us. Thank you good to see you again. Maria you know, there are some states that have actually been harder hit by economic shutdown than they have been hit by
Health Issues and coronavirus, tell us your thoughts on reopening this country, and where we are in terms of getting things back to normal, senator. I think the president got it right in giving more authority to the governors and remindings gsdz you have able to to be able to make this decision a set of guidelines out there, look at status on the ground dont look at date look at data. And then make decision based on that area oklahoma is starting starting this friday, may 1 to start reopening begin first phase we have seen a decline in cases, we are increasing the number of tests that are out there, but we have a declining number of positive results that is a good thing for us, we should be able to reengage our economy and continue social distancing continue wearing face masks in public all things to guard each other but all this talk about a essential nonessential businesses only works if you are not the one who owns work it is a nonessential if you own or work at nonessential business it is essential to you and your family so weve got to be able to balance out, the economic side live savings what happens to function of economy long term making sure we honor health, short term as well. Your state also getting impacted by the oil industry getting hit hard by coronavirus, the shutdown causing a complete wipeout in demand, that has caused drill company
Diamond Offshore to file for chapter 11 bankruptcy claiming only has 430
Million Dollars cash on hand 2500 jobs could be lost comes with
Goldman Sachs warning global oil capacity toested in as little as 3e weeks major selloff in price of oil down 21 your reaction. Oil will be an issue for us for a very long time at this point they have got 30 more capacity than they need, at this point of gasoline so we all know the score what happened china started by quarantining 700
Million People, russian, saudi arabia, price war then it is obviously, we got a global shutdown, we have a lot of gasoline produced no place to put it big issue right now is storage as everyone knows, and every time we get to a point there has to be another sale on futures market coming up people have to take deliver there is no place to be able to take deliver of this oil so it is going to be down a very long time as soon as we get back to working again people actually get to driving again, we will begin to bring excess down but taking a while to be able to get to that spot not just in the
United States but gloenl as we will we need things to be able to go through this estrange
Petroleum Reserve opening up additional storage official provides more space
Want Department of energy to be able to shorten the amount of time storage right now if you are storing strategic
Petroleum Reserve you have to lever there it two years should be able to shorten do town six months or so to allow more people to be able to put oil there shorter time period to use extra capacity space way wasnt designed for but could be used right now in this time period. Maria whatever the situation is there will be many
Oil Companies
Drilling Companies will not be able to make it off the this we will see more bankruptcies more job cuts from industry that really was our growth story for so long. Russia wanted to put this industry out of business, what is your take on the money going to certain businesses whether
Small Businesses, getting money to to people at home, in the
Paycheck Protection Program, senator give your take is this going to be enough or do you want to see further stimulus and do you think that the administration should be giving some kind of financial alleviate to go
Oil Companies by i dont want to call it bailout but the way they have done the farmers, they have done airlines should, they be doing similar things with
Oil Companies . We do need to look at resources that we have right now, because our
Energy Independence is future for country we finally got to a point we are
Energy Independent never want to go back dependent on russia and on the middle east, for our energy. That puts a leverage spot on us we dont want hanging over our heads it is very important that this industry is sustained. Right now there is 13, three facility from are
Federal Reserve treasury where important low to no trump collateral loans very important to sustain through hard time
Paycheck Protection Program helps employees two months this is going to take longer than two murns, any company 5 hn or less
Energy Sector are open to use
Paycheck Protection Program as well. And for those companies 500 or less can also
Economic Injury disaster loans give two
Million Dollars a capital for
Small Companies as you mentioned before, a lot of our
Energy Companies are not exxons chevrons bp they are small mom and pop operations,
Drilling Companies, they are companies that are doing fracking doing sand, trucking water these are essential parts of the economy. For all of the country, but especially for the
Energy Economy weve got to sustain those small
Energy Companies, while focused on some he larger programs as well. Maria senator about this
Protection Program how much of that money is committed . I mean you know
First Tranche 350 billion dollars went outdoor in a hurry out of money by last thursday next tranche 320 billion dollars some of it already committed, for. Is that enough . At this point . And are you expecting to work on a fourth stimulus . Right now major goal that we have is getting the economy back open again i think what most
Small Business want is just the economy open. As you know, the
Paycheck Protection Program reopens this morning, 10 00 or 10 30 eastern time 9 30 where i am universe central time for us when we we reopen what
Small Business administration already said all those who are in line are already filled out application, process those first be able to get outdoor new nonfor profits for profits to be able to go in get those things processed we dont know how long will take 14 days last time go through 350 billion, 1. 7
Million Companies entities took advantage that have we same number again to take advantage so we will see no one really knows how long it lasts depends how many people apply how quickly we go through it then after that we will see where we are as far as reopening the economy getting us going again. Maria governor great to have you on the program this morning thanks so much good to talk with you. You bet. Good to see you again. We will be watching developments

Start with nba league apparently want players back on the court starting this friday but with major strings were attached the leib wants to reopen practice facilities in states and cities loosening stayathome restrictions players would be able to return in states like georgia for volunteer workouts according to the report, it would be only for individual workouts to be clear teamworkouts
Group Activity would still be prohibited, there is still no indication whenth the league could resume games what that would look like when and if it does happen. In the world of hockey the
Nhl Players Association have formed return to play committee that is already met several times over the past week, according to the
New York Post conversations between those two groups will continue
Going Forward. The committee is discussing several ideas to resume play with, of course, player help as health pop priority appetite for sports during this time virtual nfl draft reaching 55
Million Viewers over three days shattered a previous record but as you know from your conversation with the nhl and nlb commissioners past couple weeks dollar a lot of ideas concepts right now, none of the leagues have a concrete plan at this point we would love sports back on tv. Technology Names will likely move markets as well alphabet amazon, apple
Mitch Roschelle expectations for the week in terms of of earnings you have. Got big names netflix last week you have the balance of the nationally driving parting thing that does concern me big names technology companies, are the ones driving the market the lack of breadth concerning me a bit something we will have to see play out over time, also, in big names reported this week i think not just earnings for the
First Quarter i think it is a guidance and what they say about the economy and expectations for the rest of the year. The markets going to be hanging on. Maria we have breaking news as well
General Motors this morning the company is suspending dividend, the stock repurchase suspended to preserve cash, this is something that i think the administration was was trying to get companies to think about. And the buyback plans stopped i dont know much months ago; right . Yeah i think
Going Forward obviously, anybody who gets any kind of relief from the government is going to be forbidden from doing it very interesting, the tradeoffs between share price and creating shareholder value and trying to preserve resources for the company, it is a new operating model
Going Forward, dividends start of the valuable proposition that investors expect when they buy a stoke in a company so it will be very interesting to see how this plays out in boardrooms over the months ahead. Maria especially where youve got
Interest Rates rockbottom levels cant get yields on anything all corporate dividend pairs. Ppp

Small Businesses at least 13 public
Companies Given back 170 million, in that
Small Business stimulus money, others saying they will keep it. Can when we talk about
General Motors and a ford, i hope in the coming months even years we remember what they did to start mass producing ventilators, for when country was in need you had a car company that started the 60 mi minutes did a story last night gm sourcing 400 different parts necessary, to make ventilators making them in kokomo indiana plant, tweeting about it this morning, incredible to see what we can accomplish in a short password of time when we focus collective energy so what this is an america coming together i hope that stays in our memory for sometime to come. Maria it is true. And lee carter, the corporate sector really steps up in this, probably it is nice to see corporate sector step up the way they have been because of the last several years they have been sort of you know they have been subject of upset for the democrats, and for really those people who wanted to make them pay as opposed to others. That is right, you see 75 of americans right now are saying
Way Companies behave making them more loyal in the future the stories coming together at production made people have hope at a thooivenlt bone hopeful more people expectation innovation answers from private sector not government i think really a driving factor behind a lot of us out there also seeing that the way cane behavreceptively makes people more likely to invest in stock interesting to see how ceo leadership plays out now. Yep i agree completely a break when we come back more comments from allstar panel on mornings with maria. Stay with us. Americas oldest lighthouse has weathered many storms.
