Its been too long, kelly opinioned Francis Newton stacy and michael lee, strategist michael lee. Welcome one and all. Mark, to you first, what do you make of markets yesterday . I think they pulled back on headline that crossed of Los Angeles County that it could be what the end of the summer before you really have the lift of the stay at home orders. Mark well, i agree with you, dagen, thats just part of it, though, to no surprise dr. Faucis testimony is what he expected him to come out, caution is the order of the day, premature opening will cause reset in the economy and the markets took that on the chin a little bit because obviously theyve had a substantial rally, up more than 30 and a lot baking pretty optimistic outlook with regard to when the u. S. Economy will be vibrating again and we have seen a number of states that actually almost about 50 of u. S. Gdp either already opened or soon to reopen and consequence of any kind of a flairup and a number of new cases reported that would cause any kind, if you will, stricter mitigation standards being reimposed on the country, i think the market would suffer and of consequence you had a taste of that yesterday morning. Dagen francis . Francis what do you think is priced in the market, if we see selloff, where do you see substantial support . Mark yeah, great question, a quite of bit is priced in the market. Typically the market tends to move up about 4 months in advance at the end to have recession and by way of saying move up on a sustainable basis and so right now the rally off of the march 23rd lows would imply that the economy would see the end of the recession perhaps as early as late july, maybe august of this year and that seems pretty optimistic given everything that weve already sort of alluded to and that to me suggests that some vulnerable to the fact that recovery, even if states are allowed to reopen it wont percolate level of activity that is sufficiently strong for corporate earnings to grow well enough to afford a multiple that is now being priced in equities that implies 20 times forward multiple on earnings that are expected to come not in 2020 but rather in 2021. So when i think about what levels you might test if we do get a full back, certainly much would be made around the case that we could see a test of those march lows. Thats draconian to me. It takes a lot to shape 700 points from the s p 500 at this point in time. Theres a lot of support in there, almost in 100 point increment, 2000, big figures here, but nonetheless at the various levels you see various points of support that you expect the market to release, which pause that which make and stop look around and perhaps allow at the level for economic information and perhaps therapeutic response from the Healthcare Companies to catch up to equity prices. Dagen investors eyeing negative Interest Rates, Federal Reserve chair jay powell to discus his view and much more, to oppose negative Interest Rates later this morning. Mike lee, your reaction. I said for weeks the problem is we focus on the markets so much, but what about the real economy because the markets reacting to massive amount of fed stimulus and the fed propping up asset class after asset class, but then you have one out of four americans almost doesnt have a job or doesnt have enough hours and theres this, two worlds that we are talking about. What are you watching for today . Mike so when you look through and think about the bottom of the business cycle, its typically marketed with widespread bankruptcies, but the fact that the fed opened window in nonfinancial institutions, i think that sets us up to vshape recovery and i would like to hear marks thoughts on that . Mark great question. The markets react in vshape recovery and doing so implying that the economy should follow. I tend to be in more the ushape camp. We wrote a people on it a couple of weeks ago identifying various scenarios in which we do give some sympathy to vshape recovery economically so much of that will depend on therapeutic response and obviously a vaccine that cant come soon enough to eradicate virus from earth, but before that, i think more of a ushape because i dont think we know enough about the known and unknown which is the fact that the virus is going to take to allow the economy to open and with the kind of floors that would suggest back to normal all that quickly. I think its going to take months and or quarters and believe me its going to be quite bleak in terms of numbers in Second Quarter gdp. Dagen right. I want to point before we go, i just want to point out that corporations are changing the way they do business with twitter telling employee that is you can work from home forever but they are looking at their budgets in a way that could dramatically change the entire financial and economic landscape in this country and around the world, literally forever, and we will get into that as the morning rolls on and even advisers are canceling commitment to tv networks, this is in the journal. Im not sure that investors have gotten arms and heads around what the world is going to look like and not just in terms of the Health Crisis but what the world is going to look like in business next year, 25 years, even 10 years, mike, thank thanu so much. District court judge sullivan issuing order that he expects parties may seek to intervene in the Michael Flynn case putting a hold on the Justice Departments plans to overturn it. A group of 16 former watergate prosecutors requesting monday to file an amicus brief to speak out against attorney general barrs reversal, writing this, quote, this travesty of justice has consumed 3 or more years of innocent mans life, no further delayed should be tolerated or any further expense cause today him or his defense. Joining us former california congressman current congressional candidate darrell issa, this order is very unusual, darrell, that the judge is allowing friend of the court briefs which are not often filed in criminal cases, why . I think he doesnt want to let go of a case that in many ways is a little like the ancient case of miranda in 1966. You have failure to respect the fifth amendment rights of general flynn and when the recognition is happening not at the Supreme Court but at a local level, he doesnt want to let it go, the reality is that when the Justice Department doesnt want to prosecute or they feel they have uncleaned hands, normally a judge goes along pretty much as a rubber stamp. Dagen i want to ask you this, though, because in terms of why isnt this an easy decision by this judge. Theres a prosecutorial violation of the brady rule where there was not exculpatory evidence was not turned over to Michael Flynns defense and no evidentiary to justify interview and why why is this such a hard decision . Well, it really isnt a hard decision and when in the light of day after both sides have had their sort of political public debate, whats going to happen is more people are going to know that the department of justice is, in fact, an organization and when we talk about the swamp you point right towards that place because both the avenue and highranking people at the department of justice knowingly violated this mans rights, knowingly deceived including walking into the white house in order to entrap general flynn. Its that simple. Dagen i wanted to mention this, no russia collusion. Wall street Journal Editorial Board calling out adam schiff, House Intelligence Committee chairman which maria has for years for attempting to block nearly released transcripts that prove that the Trump Campaign did not collude with russian officials in 2016, mr. Schiff is a powerful figure with access to secrets that the rest of us cant have and he mislead the country repeatedly on an issue that consumed american politics. I want to get Kelly Torrence on this. Kelly, weigh in. Kelly yeah, its really quite shocking that adam schiff has not had any consequences for this. For years hes been saying theres been direct evidence of collusion and we are now finding that just not the case, he attacked devin nunes for disagreeing with him, theres no evidence to support anything adam schiff said over the last few years and, darrell, i was wondering do you think adam schiff will face any consequences for lying for years . Darrell well, if nancy pelosi loses her speakership maybe but the reality adam schiff and i came to congress 2 years ago together, he has risen through the ranks by being overt political figure and he knowingly lie today the American People and as you said he used the fact that you could see things he couldnt to not only lie to the American People but turn it on devin nunes and imply that somehow devin was, in fact, the one that wasnt telling the truth. We now know two people looked at the information, one lied about it and it was adam schiff. Dagen repeatedly. Aided and abetted by other Television Networks that they put him onto push their own antitrump russia collusion narrative. Congressman, we will see what happens, john durham is on the case looking on went on with the fbi and the Intelligence Community leading, that gave birth to this investigation in the first place, we will keep watching, please come back. California factory can officially reopen as soon as next week as it adopts guidelines to keep employees safe. Musk made it clear monday that he was opening regardless even daring local officials to arrest him. Michael, what do you make of this, because, again, the state said it was okay at the state level that some manufacturers could start reopening on what it was may eighth but then local authorities in Alameda County intervene. This is a win not just for elon musk and tesla, its a win for anybody who is trying to get back to work safely. Well, dagen, give a man a hammer and all he sees is nails and the people in charge just cant get enough power. We were told 15 days to slow the spread and now we are two months in and outside of pockets of new york city we are not even close to overrunning the healthcare system. Its time to get it open. Good for elon musk for throwing weight around to get back to work. Its time for all the country need to get back to work. People know the risk and they have choice and give people the choice and take it out on lawmakers and policy drivers hands and give it back to the people. Dagen francis, how does this affect other businesses trying to get back to work . Francis i think hes setting a great precedent and other businesses will feel confident that they can put pressure on governments to get back to work which in the longer trajectory is good for the economy. Whats very interesting and interesting to watch does elon still move to texas or nevada even though hes able to open up or is this enough to keep him in california . Dagen well, kelly, what i love is and im looking down because im looking at my phone, but other i think the governor of colorado had been was the governor, jerry was tweeting at elon musk saying, we want you here, we are the best of all worlds, we are probusiness, low taxes, proimmigration, prolgbt globally minde
