The house needs a speaker to beef up Israeli Defense funds. Well, i suggest Kevin Mccarthy who should never have been brought down in the first place. Just tell us why do you think, why do you think, you were involved in all the negotiations with israel and the middle east and the Abraham Accords why has this terrible hamas invasion happened . Well there is a few reasons, theyre all regrettable and avoidable. I think we have to start with iran. You pointed your finger on it earlier. Iran is the head of the snake. This attack would not have been possible without funding planning, assistance, choreography all those things by the Islamic Republic of iran. As we appease them, as we lift sanctions on them as we enrich them, you look at the number of Barrels Per Day that iran is selling today versus a year ago or two years ago. It is a massive, massive increase. They have got a lot itch richer and a lot more money to burn. Theyre spending it on their proxies which hamas is the most violent, most ruthless and closest to israel. So you gotstart with that. At the same time wall street journal did some good reporting on this, at the same time, that we were america was negotiating with iran for a prisoner swap which we unfroze six billion dollars of cash at the very same time iran is working with hamas to plan this annihilation of the jewish people. An attack on jews the likes of which we have not seen since the holocaust. Women being pulled out of their homes and raped. Babies being killed and taken for hostage. Old women, holocaust survivor a woman who was a holocaust survivor was taken out of her home, put in a truck and taken over the border as a hostage. You know she never thought she would have to relive these days. That is what were going through today. Iran is the beginning and the head of the snake. We also restored funding to the Palestinian Authority which gives you know, which gives incentives and stipends for terrorists to kill jewish people. We refunded unrwa, which teaches all those in gaza to hate. They put on these plays where half the kids dress up as terrorists, and half the kids dress up as jews, the terrorists kill the jews and the parents get up and applaud. That is where were put our money in now. The most avoidable, and regrettable thing we did the way we handled negotiations between israel and saudi arabia. At the end of the day iran wants to do is destroy the potential normalization between israel and saudi arabia. This hurts them greatly. They put that on hold. Why is this happening at all . When we did the Abraham Accords, when people found out about israels normalization with the u. A. E. , the day they found out about it the day President Trump announced it on television. Until that day there werent 10 people in the world that knew what was happening. What is happening here . Theyre advertising it. Theyre talking about it and if it is a done deal. Theyre including the palestinians at the table, let them know what is going on. So the palestinians are not getting what they want. They feel aggrieved. They want toe want to show theyre relevant and want to attack and iran is only too happy to give them the resources and incentives to do that in order to kill any chance of saudi israel normalization. This was a botched process that didnt have to end this way. It could have been done secretly and discretely the way we did the Abraham Accords and those continue to survive and prosper. They havent said there is going to be any kind of oil embargo like there was back in 1973 and 1974 when they were basically at war with the u. S. What is your expectations . Will the saudis be neutral in this battle . Will they side with iran and hamas or will they, you know, try at least under the table to stay friendly with israel . Look i think the saudis understand the mentality of hamas. Its the same you know muslim brotherhood, radical islamic factions that threaten saudi, they threaten u. A. E. , they threaten bahrain and threaten morocco. This is the same enemy. I dont think they will embrace hamas or boycott the u. S. And raise prices. They have a street decidedly propalestinian. They may keep the street under control and may say things that are unfavorable and unhelpful. At the end of day the saudis want to move at the end of the day towards modernity. Israels gameplan on the ground with respect to taking back hamas, knocking them out once and for all, what are you thinking, brett . Well im thinking they have already started. They have launched a wave of airstrikes and attacks on gaza in response and it is just the beginning. A Ground Invasion is likely imminent. There was a formal war declaration issued which is very important for their leaders to latitude to conduct major operations. Israel previously carried out previous campaigns in gaza that appeared publicly as wars but they were without formal declaration. This gives the green light for israel to take military steps against hamas. There is no doubt hamas will pay a major price for the terrorist attacks. Netanyahu has ordered mobilization of 100,000 Israeli Forces as it prepares for the Ground Invasion. That is imminent. They have to respond disproportion natalie. They have to respond over the top. This military operation has to focus on restoring deterrents. They need to hammer hamas, punish them to a level that reestablishes deterrence. This will be a bloody battle to get there. Israel has to do what they have to do here. We need to let them defeat hamas half all. Not pressure them to reduce forces after we do for a knew days going into gaza. They have been holding for years on a fullscale invasion. They dont have the choice. This is what happens without this deterrence. They will have to go in very heavy with a swift response. Frankly americans need to get heim them and give them the space and support to do this without condemning any of these actions. Larry brett, as part of a sweep through gaza, can Israeli Defense forces among other things, brett, take out the tunnel system that hamas has built over the years im sure theyre using right now . I think it is extremely difficult to do that. I mean thats how they operated for so long, how they have gotten away with a lot of this. Right now hamas has taken a number of hostages as well. Sort of as an insurance policy against these retaliatory actions on israelis. I think that is going to backfire. Israelis they dont negotiate with terrorists. The hostages i dont think will be able to be used for bargaining chips even though hamas thinks so. We have to really push the israelis to do peace through strength. That is the only thing that works in this region. We adopted previously our own policy not negotiating with terrorists this he have it going with that mind set. I think frankly it will get much worse in the coming days with number of airstrikes. Larry the forces coming on the ground, Israeli Forces coming on the ground will that begin today, tomorrow . How do you read that story . Theyre calling up reserves, hundreds of thousands of people, brett. When do they actually come on the ground and invade . I think it is tough to tell. Well probably see it when it happens. Theyre not going to necessarily reveal that, those operational information but i think just what were seeing in the region is showing that movement is imminent. I think frankly we need to remind ourselves that we cant let our guard down in america against terrorism. We can also be taken by surprise at any to those who wish us harm. This was an intelligence failure at its core. No one saw this. I dont know how western intelligence agencies seemed not to understand this attack was going to occur in israel. S. Israel defense cooperation agreement. So theres existing money that weve passed in the house and if the senate could take those bills up that would promptly fund that in this fiscal year of 2024. In addition to the good policies that we have in the National Defense authorization bill which we also passed in the house and sent over to the senate which includes making sure that we have a special envoy for the Abraham Accords and that we continue to lead as israels primary ally and partner in the region. Larry what is the Senate Waiting for, french . Well theyre in recess this week. I know this is important to them. We hope to get to conference on both the Defense Authorization bill and these spending bills asap. Those are things that they could be doing right now while the House Republicans elect a new speaker. And i do support this idea of a bipartisan resolution that shows our Firm Resolution with our ally israel on the house floor and make it the very first thing we do once we have a new speaker elected. Larry do you need, will israel need a larger appropriations . Can you amend the existing bills that went through . Do you have to open up a new bill . How do you think that is going to work, french hill . I think our appropriators will look what weve approved in the foreign ops and the defense appropriations bill and talk to the administration. If they feel like they need any supplemental number that would benefit the defense of israel to defeat this terror invasion of their country.
