MORE fears have been raised over access to immediate healthcare after the closure of the town's walk-in centre last year. The Islington Street facility shut in controversial fashion last March. People are now being told to go to the Great Western Hospital for on-the-day treatment instead. Speaking at Swindon Borough Council’s adults’ health, care and housing overview and scrutiny committee meeting, councillor Bob Wright said the former location was more accessible for patients and had a number of advantages. He said: “Its benefit was it was a single bus ride. It was, for most people, an easier place to get to.”
