The project could result in hundreds of public-sector buildings having access to hyper-fast broadband. This new government funding is part of the Full Fibre Northern Ireland Consortium (FFNI). It is made up of all 10 councils outside Belfast and the Business Services Organisation and aims to expand access to high-speed fibre broadband. A further £1m will be used by FFNI to procure relevant network equipment and services to bring the network into operation.
