Delay in the deployment of more Filipino nurses to the United Kingdom is looming after the inclusion of the Philippines in the ‘Red List’ of countries temporarily banned from inbound travel to the UK to prevent the entry of new COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) variants.

In a statement on Sunday, labor and migration consultant Emmanuel Geslani urged the concerned Philippine government agencies to facilitate the processing of documents of the nurses even as the new UK travel ban is slated to take effect at 4 a.m. on April 9, 2021.
Geslani, however, said it is not clear whether those Filipino nurses who have already been issued with work permits and visas are included in the soon-to-be-implemented travel restrictions.
