Fire investigator to look into cause of smoke-logged Rai Val

A fire investigator will try to determine why a house became filled with smoke on Wednesday evening at Rai Valley, between Nelson and Blenheim.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand southern fire communications centre shift manager Brent Dunn said firefighters found the single-storey Opouri Rd home heavily smoke-logged when they arrived in response to a call-out just after 9.30pm.
“There was no fire.”
The smoke was believed to be caused by a battery charger, but a fire investigator was expected to inspect the home on Thursday, Dunn said.
