And they couldn’t do much about the increasing probability of cold and snowy weather.
But that didn’t stop them from devising a plan to block off a portion of Second Street running just north of Main Street where visitors can enjoy takeout food and beverages — including the adult variety — at picnic tables that have been set up in the street.
“The purpose is to show businesses that we’re behind them,” said Mayor Nick Shelton. “We can’t do much about the coronavirus and the cold weather, but we can do something to try to create a gathering spot.”
