Baltimore County is launching a spring restaurant week in an effort to help an industry that has suffered during the COVID-19 pandemic.Lisa Troia Martin, owner of Cafe Troia in Towson, lobbied with help from other restaurateurs for a spring restaurant week."It's been hard, it's been really hard. This is a tough industry normally, and the pandemic made it made it exponentially harder," Troia Martin said. Now that more people are being vaccinated, Troia Martin said she hopes more people will come out and support local businesses in Baltimore County."Restaurants are still struggling, and this is the shot in the arm that we need financially to stay alive, for the business to stay alive so that we can continue to operate," Troia Martin said.Typically done during a time when it's slower, like August and January, Baltimore County Restaurant Week was canceled both times in the past year due to COVID-19.To help now, the county is promoting the event and waiving entry fees. More than 65 restaurants have signed up to offer either a breakfast, lunch or dinner menu, or a combination, for discounted prices. The menus are online for dine-in, carryout and delivery."Most restaurants really want it, the public also wants it. This has been a favorite event for the public for a lot of years," Troia Martin said.Baltimore County Spring Restaurant Week started Friday and lasts until May 2.
