First batch of COVID vaccines arrive in Galesburg GALESBURG — Knox County’s first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine was administered Wednesday afternoon after making its way from OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria to Galesburg's OSF St. Mary Medical Center, and later Cottage Hospital. According to Knox County Health Department Public Information Officer Erin Olson, 800 doses of the vaccine were delivered from Peoria to Knox County hospitals Wednesday by the health department, with an escort provided by the Knox County Sheriff’s Department. A total of 650 of these doses went to OSF St. Mary Medical Center. The doses were delivered first at approximately 2 p.m. to OSF St. Mary Medical Center, and then to Galesburg Cottage Hospital at about 2:15 p.m. Hospitals began vaccination shortly after the arrival of the vaccines.
