It’s been a long weekend of severe weather across Central Illinois. Very heavy rains Sunday evening created flash flooding problems, most notably on portions of Interstate 72 between Springfield and New Berlin. That followed a series of tornadoes across the area on Saturday. No injuries were reported, but there are reports of damage from a tornado that passed through Cass County Saturday afternoon. WAND-TV says there were at least three suspected touchdowns as the powerful storm moved through the area. In addition to downed tree limbs and power lines, there were reports of damage at Virginia High School, affecting a school bus facility and the school’s greenhouse. Storm damage was also reported in rural Morgan County.
