Former Agriculture Ministry employee charged with three counts of bribery


KUALA LUMPUR: A former senior assistant secretary to a ministry was charged at the Sessions Court here over three counts of soliciting and receiving bribes involving a contract for the supply and delivery of biofertilisers to companies.
Shahrulzaman Jaafar, 43, who is now a director at the National Institute of Public Administration (Intan) southern campus, pleaded not guilty on Tuesday (Jan 12) after the charges were read out before Judge Azura Alwi.
According to the first charge, the accused, who was at that time attached to the Agriculture Ministry, had solicited a RM2mil bribe from Wan Nor Izham Wan Nashar as a reward to help the latter to win a tender worth RM118,165,171.65 for the supply and delivery of biofertilisers to local companies, Endona Corporation Sdn Bhd, Qamari Consultancy Sdn Bhd and Borneo Natura Sdn Bhd.
