Disgraced former NRL star Jarryd Hayne has had apples hurled at him by inmates a week after the convicted rapist was jailed. Hayne, 33, remains holed up in Parklea Jail's maximum security wing as he undergoes a mandatory 14-day Covid-19 isolation period after he was recently sentenced to five years and nine months for raping a young woman in Newcastle in 2018. Inmates at the western Sydney jail spotted the high-profile prisoner when he was moved from a medical clinic to a prison yard on Friday. The fruit pelted through the steel mesh fence separating Hayne from the general prison population missed the intended target, a prison source told the Daily Telegraph.
