Jyoti Krishan Dutt, a 1971-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the West Bengal cadre, headed the commando forces during the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. He breathed his last at the age of 72 in the Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon. "He passed away today at 3:30 pm on Wednesday after suffering a massive cardiac arrest," reported a news agency quoting family sources. Dutt is survived by his wife, a son, who works in Noida, and a daughter, who is based in the US.
