Former Virginia Delegate A.R "Pete" Giesen passed away on Friday, April 2. Giesen was 88 years old and had served in the Virginia House of Delegates for over 30 years, from 1964 to 1974 and later again from 1975 to 1996. After his political career, Giesen taught as a part-time political science professor at James Madison University. Politicians who knew Giesen personally used social media over the weekend to share their memories and condolences with others, including Senator Emmett Hanger, former Delegate Steve Landes and others. Virginia government records state that during Giesen's time as a delegate, he represented citizens of Augusta, Bath, Highland, and Rockingham Counties and the Cities of Staunton and Waynesboro.
