Four school districts get grants to replace diesel buses April 25, 2021 FacebookTwitterEmail CLIO, Mich. (AP) — Four Michigan school districts will get a share of $240,000 from the federal government to replace older buses that run on diesel fuel. The new buses reduce pollutants and improve air quality, the Environmental Protection Agency said. Clio is getting $100,000 to replace five buses; Hemlock, $60,000, three buses; Ovid-Elsie, $40,000, two buses; and Whittemore-Prescott, $40,000, two buses. “EPA is equipping local school districts with cleaner-running buses, helping them along the route to healthier kids and communities,” EPA Administrator Michael Regan said. In western Michigan, three school districts and a private school were awarded $450,000 last year to make a switch to buses that run on propane or improved diesel engines.
