Has recovered roughly half of the 22 million jobs lost during the first two month of the pandemic. In an interview with cbs. President biden said the massive bill isnt likely to include a 15 Federal Minimum Wage favored by many on the left. This comes as a new Green Jobs Report says only 49,000 jobs were added last month. A year ago the Unemployment Rate was nearly half of what it is today. For context in january of last your, 225,000 jobs were added, of course, thats before the pandemic took hold here in the u. S. You remember that from obamacare, the process they used to shouldve through obamacare so they could get past republican opposition. Here we go again, its stimulus through reconciliation 1. 9 trillion and the real opponent turned out to be process which they will overcome. Pete they have gone through the motions inviting the 10 republican senators into the oval office. They knew they could only pass it with 51 votes unless they compromised which they didnt want to do. Enough to we have a 2 trilliondollar covid Relief Package which has 350 billion for blue state bailouts. 1 0 billion for schools. Tons of increased unemployment. Extending that for six more months. What is important to note and the Wall Street Journal breaks it down very well, first of all, we have already spent 3. 7 trillion in covid relief in 2020. So we are already at almost 4 trillion. This is 2 trillion more. 1 trillion of that previous relief, guys, still is unspent. They havent spent it yet. So have you 59 billion for schools. 239 billion for healthcare and almost 500 billion in Small Business loans yet to actually be spent. Yet, the urgency is no we have to spend 2 trillion more, putting us at basically 6 trillion in relief. The one thing, jed, they refuse to do end the lockdowns that would allow people to get back to business which is what people really need. Yesterday. Jedediah thats the point i was going to make can you do this over and over again and talk about increasing Unemployment Benefit and stimulus checks in the shortterm yes, of course those things will help people. Ultimately if these businesses have to remain shut down or in some case operate like restaurants at 25 capacity its not going to be a month. A month is going to pass or a few weeks is going to pass and those businesses are going to need another influx of cash. The ultimate resolution to all of this which i see completely absent in all of this is to reopen the country and let those businesses protect their customers as they want to do and be safe and prove that they can do that and they prioritize it but ultimately get people get back to business and that goes the same for School Reopenings and whatnot. And who Prioritizes Unity and whether or not those words are actually reflected in actions which we have been talking about for some time on this show. If the duty to care for everyone, refusal of democrats and republicans to cooperate with one another is not due to some Mysterious Force beyond our control. Its a decision. Its a choice we make. So this whole bipartisan thing yeah, we will pretend a little bit and shuffle things around but ultimately we are going to ram it down because of what you said, will, we have got the process on our side right now. We have the votes to do it. We can keep our caucus locked together and ultimately republicans they wish they were us. And they wish they could push their priority, sorry this is hard ball d. C. Senator rand paul was on our network last night talking about whether or not the white house cares about the other half of the country this is what he said. We will be two weeks into the administration. The first thing they will do is extend the bitterness of the election with impeaching of former president. The second thing they are going to do is add 2 trillion worth of debt to our country with no republican support, zero. They come to the white house only to tell them no, we are doing this only Bernie Sanders way or the highway with only democrats. Really, this is showing you how they want to run the country. Because if you go to our southern border, of the battle over whats happening there including covid19 is raging as the Biden Administration has sent signals, very loud signals to migrants and others and illegals saying the Catch And Release program is back on. Remain in mexico is gone. And because of covid19, effectively, were going to have to be releasing people under this health crisis. Jed, when you listen to the rhetoric and the signals, why would people not believe now is the time to come when they wont be deported, whether they dont have to remain in mexico, when bringing a child with you policy has expanded as a reason to get. In with covid19 we are shipping vaccines to the southern border to give to illegals, sounds like a good typically to run for the border if you need to. Furthermore, one of the city commissioners that spearheaded that 15 million cut further went on to say that the gvrt disbandment of it had no contribution to the violence we are seeing right now. I think we can all see that it has had a dramatic effect on Public Safety and movability here in portland. Pete talk about livability in portland. We saw those tools being shipped away during the riots over the summer. And at this point we really dont have the numbers to bring back the gvrt. Were down 13 since july alone. 13 of a force that was already down about close to 50 . So, we have for a city this size just over 700 officers on our street. And we should have about 1100 officers.
