Raised. It was more about a region quite frankly that would benefit everyone living there and Around The World if we get it right. Its not just here. It has a phenomenal impact. I dont want to get going. Ill take too long. Youve seen from initiatives here today is just how committed we are to see this vision take place. I think this relationship that we put together and i think were youll see it expand. Maybe not what we did today, this is a historic meeting but were about to weve laid in plate a longterm structure for a relationship that will last and have a phenomenal impact in asia and Around The World. Someone ones said in a different context about Healthcare Provision in my country awhile ago, this is a big deal. This is a big deal. Thank you. Let me address the questions directed to me. First, as to north Koreas Nuclear and Missile Provocations and the threats that are posed and how we plan to counter those threats together among our three countries, let me address that question. All the cooperative frame works among our three countries what is most symbolic out of those is our cooperation in defense area. Any provocations or attacks against any one of our three countries will trigger a Decision Making process of this trilateral frame work and our solidarity will become stronger and harder. At the same time, Missile Information will be shared in a real time basis and systematic training and drills will be implemented in accordance with a systematic annual schedules, regular schedules and regular trainings that we plan to carry out together against the dprks Missile Provocations. At the same time regarding your question concerning the Water Release from the Fukushima Plant, that issue was not addressed because it was not on the agenda. The Fukushima Plant treated water, if its going to have some type of impact, it would flow through the entire Pacific Ocean having an impact not just on our three country, but all countries Around The World. As such, for safety and health of the people of our three countries and all members of the International Community, that should be something that we need to place our highest priority on. Regards this treated water, based on so i scientific princi iaeas Investigation Results are something that we can trust. I would like to make sure that how everything is conducted and carried out in accordance with the procedures established by the iaea with the International Community and with the koreans, transparent Data Disclosure will be necessary in my opinion. Thank you. The question to myself. As you mentioned, nuclear and Missile Development by north korea a unilateral attempt to attend the status quo in the east and South China Seas are ongoing and the Security Involvement and our countries is becoming harsh. Under this backdrop on this occasion, we agreed to enhance the decoordination between the u. S. , japan and the rok alliances and bring the trilateral Security Cooperation to new heights. This is indeed the requirement of this era. And by this summit, im sure that that will further advance and reinforce the peace and stability. In particular, with regard to north korea, we were able to put forward concrete results such as the implementation of annual japan, us and rok exercises and the establishment of a Working Group to address north koreas cyber activities. I also stated that the Abduction Issue is a humanitarian issue with time constraints and president yoon talked about the matter. We also shared or recognition path to dying log with north korea. Further more, once again, the president s of both kun countries with the status quo with the use of force. We will continue our efforts to further strengthen the Strategic Partnership among the three countries in order to defend the open and International Order based on the rule of law. That is all. Thank you. I expect and hope our conversation will volley this fall. That is my expectation. This concludes our Press Conference. Please stay seated as the leaders depart. Neil there you have it. The president of the United States leading with the leaders of japan and south korea. Theyre allies, all allies. A great deal of friction between South Korea And Japan as of late. A lot of it has to do with something that never came up. That is the rift between japan and south korea over japans plan to release treated waste water from that Fukushima Nuclear plant. You remember that accident some years ago. The south koreans not happy about it. 90 of south koreans in one poll say theyre deeply opposed to that plan. Its on their land, after all. The japanese government said they have no other choice. The south koreans say you do have a choice. Anywhere but in our country. This did not come up. We have assurances from japan, and i caught some of it, that japan and the operator of the plant were very strict to follow clean water treatments and releases that then in south korea. Lets listen right now if theres any follows up here. Does and peer to be. The president of the United States did take an issue speaking now again. Can we listen in . I apologize. That was tape. I was confused about that. Jacqui heinrich never confused. Its interesting, jacqui, the one moment when the Hunter Biden Issue was ever so briefly addressed, the president not so ever so lightly punted. What can you tell us . Well, i think that was probably the last topic he wanted to talk about on that stage with two foreign leaders at this historic summit. You have these two leaders appearing together given the deep distrust between those two nations following all of those years where japan colonized the korean peninsula, following between the years of 1910 and world war ii. This is a big moment for the president to try to be discussing the biggest issues facing that region, including Chinese Military aggression, economic coercion, the Nuclear Proliferation program happening in north korea and how this affects our allies and the United States particularly with this ballistic missile. So he didnt want to take questions on the investigation into his son. Didnt surprise me that he punted to the Justice Department there. I think some of the deliverables that we were told we would get out of this meeting were a little bit less impressive than i think we were led to believe. Certainly its significant that theres a coordinated effort to communicate, to consult with each other in times of crisis. These three countries and to increase their military exercises in that region. But a statement that was put out was notable to me in the sense that it did not have any really Strong Language toward china with respect to taiwan. The president says he expects to be talking with xi jinping in the fall. They let in bali last november. Youd expect when you have these three leaders here to probably have a strong statement about how they would address chinese aggression. I shout add question at thent. He chose not to answer. If they discussed coordinating on potential Military Defense of taiwan in the event of a chinese attack. The president didnt give an answer to that question. The other piece of the statement that we got is, they said they have committed jointly to the complete denuclearization of the dprk. This is something that they have talked about to do in the past. But the complete denuclearization was Strong Language, more stronger than what was pointed at china, neil. Neil thanks for that very much. Jacqui heinrich at camp david where this is going down. Major general david pitard. When you look at all three allies on the same page when it comes the taiwan, dealing with north korea, dealing with just as provocative behavior out of china, that they would be on the same page. For the most part, they are. That has prompted this show of unified force. Do you buy it . Theres a longstanding issue between the countries. The greatest threat is that greater military threat, right . Good afternoon, neil. I concur. The greatest threat is china. So it was important to have this historic summit between the u. S. , South Korea And Japan and bringing South Korea And Japan together, who have, you know, natural alignment and objectives when it comes to confronting north korea as well as china. The one surprise i have, australia wasnt a part of this. Australia has gone to Great Lengths in recent years to strengthen their relationship with japan and south korea. Neil you think when leaders get together and we know the increasing bellicose actions, that this is a preview trying to show china that we are united, but are we . In other words, if taiwan were to ever be attacked by china, is it just an understanding we would respond and they would respond as well . Yeah, thats theres been a policy of ambiguity for decades. Obviously President Biden not sure if that was muddled a little bit at one point where he said that we would defend taiwan. But i think the proof is in what hans next. And if in fact theyre serious about having joint exercises around taiwan, that would send a very strong signal to china. Neil general, do you get a sense right now that things are spiralling out of control . Of late, i focus on china. Their economy is in a tail spin as you probably know. Unemployment there is 21 . A record high. Were getting more world that more factories are shutting down or cutting hours or unthinkably laying off workers. It caused great frustration within china. One side of that, sir, is to say well, theyre less interested in being militarily provocative when theyre economically vulnerable. What do you think of that . I look at that almost from an opposite view. The more problems that they may have at home economically, which has been part of the way the President Xi Regime has kept the country unified with their economic success, if that deteriorates somewhat, then they may be looking for something outside of china as far as to focus on. So i would be very concerned if there are issues with the huge economic downturn that china may try to flex its muscles militarily in the region. Neil so general, to put a cap on this, do you think we are closer to a military i dont want to say war, but more Military Action against china or in the region accidentally, purposely or something that we stumble upon that were closer to that than weve ever been . I think were closer than that than weve been recently. That is for sure. Whether it is by sea, any time our naval ships transit the taiwan straits, i would be concerned if there is a stumbling or by accident. Theres got to be more communication between china at a high level to avoid stumbling in to something that both countries would regret. Neil we think we can hope and pray to avoid that. Thanks for your service to this country. Major general dana pittard. Looking back at this countrys politics. Policies always playing a role. I wonder how politicians are responding to this ahead of the debate. A lot of the candidates are converging on atlanta where President Trump will be arraigned next week. Bryan llenas is there with the latest from atlanta. Bryan . Hi, neil. Six of the Top Republican president ial candidates were all invited to speak here in atlanta today an tomorrow, all except for former president donald trump. That is because this event called the gathering is hosted by conservative radio host Eric Ericson Andco sponsored by brian kemp, both are how much are staunch trump critics. Right now nikki haley is speaking to a group of 550. Theyre speaking about the future of gop policies as well as the importance of georgia in the 2024 race. Senator tim scott speak earlier, so did former Vice President mike pence and Florida Governor ron desantis. They said they hoped mr. Trump would show up to if first Republican Debate hosted by fox news next wednesday. I think everyone should debate. If you qualify, i think you owe it to the people to put out your vision, to talk about your record, answer questions about your record and decisions that you may have made or not made. My differences with the president go far beyond that fateful day. I hope i have a chance to bait them with him. I see people in the field including my former running mated that are shying away, trying to relegate it to a state issue. As for what voters want candidates to talk about, according to the latest fox news poll, the most important issue facing the country is the economy at 48 . Immigration 22 . Followed by crime and election integrity. Its interesting to see if candidates shift their positions on ukraine after fox news polling found 56 of republicans say the u. S. Should be doing less to help ukrainians fight russia. That is up big from 38 in december. This event is being held, neil, less than ten miles away from where mr. Trump will have to surrender to the Fulton County sheriff by next friday given the charges hes facing here. Neil . Neil thanks, bryan llenas. Ag again, all indications that donald trump will not be participating in next weeks debate. The fallout from that, Julia Manchester and noel nipor here with us. From your vantage point, julia, if he makes good on that and skips the debate, what will the impact be . Well, i think the impact will sort of leave the debate stage as it would be if donald trump were to be on it. That means that ron desantis will be enemy number 1 for a lot of the candidates on it. So trump in a way, if he doesnt attend, this lets the other candidates like Vivek Ramaswamy, tim scott, mike pence lay in to ron desantis. We know that group of candidates is trying to get in the second tier spot. That is held by ron desantis. Now donald trump has spent much of his Campaign Attacking ron desantis, but you know, assuming he does some counter programming, that could take away the wind there ron desantis if ron desantis is hoping this will be a big night. Neil you know what, noel, youre pretty good as a fund raiser. Youve amassed the dough for candidates. Im told a good many of them have kept their wallets closed for the time be being. Money given to candidates, theyre not adding. They dont run back and say give me my money back. But theyre waiting. I dont know whether the debate is what theyre waiting for or for the dust to settle. What is going on . Martha well, the big donors are certainly all eyes on the debate. If trump does not take the stage, which we dont think he will and actually if i were advising trump, i wouldnt want trump to take the stage because he will be a political pinata and nobody needs that, especially if you have this much of a lead. What will happen, the donors will look at this and individual people that want to stroke a check for a max out of a 2,500 contribution, everybody will be looking at this debate on fox news, because they want to see who the breakout candidate from be. Right now with a slight edge, its ron desantis. That could change. Because Vivek Ramaswamy is energetic, hes alive. Hes very knowledgeable when it comes to policy and very clear. Lets see how he does on stage. As well as nikki haley. We have seasoned pros out there. Chris christie. So a lot of the donors will be watching to see who will manage to come out on top of that debate. Either way, this is going to be a huge fundraising opportunity for donald trump after that debate and for whoever presumably wins the debate on fox news. Its doing to be one heck of a time to get out emails and all kind of push to get money raised after that debate for a candidate, too. Neil you know, i had a chance to catch up with Donald Trumps former attorney general, bill barr, on this issue where we did weighin to politics and how its playing in on the legal battles going on as well. I want you to respond to this. Take a look. I think its a really good field of candidates. Ive already said, ron desantis is very effective, competent governor that neil you think hes imploding . No. He has a chance. Half of the attacks on him are the media that want to get rid of him. The democrats want to face trump. I admire Chris Christie taking a stand and telling it like it is. Neil you and him are the most vocal about your experiences and the turn and the former president , the most vocal about you guys. Well, we know him the best, dont we . And you know, im very impressed with tim scott. I think he paints a very good picture of where he wants to go and how to get america out of this rut. I like vivek. Hes elevated the discussion. Very bright. Neil any one of them becomes president and looking for an attorney general id try to push other people. Im happy outside of government. Neil all right. Twice is enough for him for attorney gen
