The protesting is Righteous Indignation over mr. Floyds murder and systemic racism and injustice. As millions of americans take to the streets in peaceful, righteous protest, i hope that this moment, one of pain and sorrow and grief, can also be a watershed moment for action. We have not seen violence coming out of protests around, you know, policing. We have not seen that we have seen righteous protest. Laura but, if you are a conservative, your protests are never righteous. Even if you are just walking through the capitol snapping photos. If you do that, youre a traitor. But the truth is, democrats arent really bothered much by looting because looting is just one more way of redistributing the wealth. They dont think most of you deserve to be able to buy fancy workout clothes, lululemon . No, not you. Or the latest model iphone, you dont deserve that so looting is just kind of a hands on way of leveling the playing field. Everybody must eat. Everybody must eat everybody must eat everybody. If somebody decides to loot a gucci or a macyys or a nike, because that makes sure that that person eats. If the criminals have the right political views on or about if they come from the right victim status mentality, that may deserve the benefit of the doubt. Now, many of the thugs Looting Stores live lives of resentment because thats what they have been taught. And they have heard this over the years. Its been drilled into them that they are oppressed. So, until we restore Law And Order, a sense of right and wrong and own families with equal opportunity for all regardless of skin color, the chaos will continue. Its all kind of justified. What is your reaction to this tonight, given the widespread looting that we are seeing . This is really heart breaking for me to see now, laura. And especially given my past. As you said before i was a radical leftist which meant i subscribed to a lot of the beliefs that probably many of the young people in these videos have. I thought that i had a deep sense of entitlement towards what i was owed in this country that i deserved reparations and if the government wasnt going to hand me those reparations then maybe it would be okay if people resorted to things like rioting and looting. I never personally engaged that that sort of behavior but i understood it from that perspective when i was a leftist. To see these videos is heart breaking and devastating especially when you take into account that many of these engaging in this behavior are young black americans, which signals to me that theyre being fed the very same narrative that i was fed as a child and they are taking to the most criminal acts of behavior they can in order to justify the pain and the anger that they feel towards this country. Laura scott, the Live Streaming and the triumphalism with which they carry out of the looting i mean, a lot of this is fed by tiktok and social media. There does seem to be a real pride in look at what we got. We got the latest model of this or we went in and we took this. And, look, you know, we still have our masks on and they didnt even catch us. Thats different from what i recall when i was a little kid in the 1970s when we saw some unrest over the war effort. Yeah, laura, you are absolutely right there. Is a sense of arrogance and really no consequences for these individuals. Its very difficult and challenging for the police to respond to these incidents because they happen so quickly. When they do arrest these folks, its really critical that there is really hard line taken by the courts and the prosecution. The Philadelphia Police commissioner, i think, said it correctly is that this has nothing to do with protest in any way, shape, or form. These are nothing but opportunistic criminals that are taking advantage of a situation. The sense of arrogance that they have in going about doing this. And no fear of reprisal. Laura as a police officer, how do you respond to this . Well get back to amala in one moment. Im looking at these Police Officers and theyre from all walks of life. Its a racially mixed Police Department in philadelphia. They are trying to control at one point there was 100 people. What do you possibly do . Yeah. Its extremely dangerous and challenging for officers to respond. And its frustrating for members of the public to see this taking place oftentimes with very Little Police response. But you kind of mentioned it, you are dealing with oftentimes dozens or hundreds of people at multiple different locations. Usually throughout the city that are doing this. And, unless the police are right there on the spot to prevent this from happening, once they go in, they are very quick. They are hitting these stores. They are grabbing the merchandise. They are getting out of there as quickly as they can. If the officers are lucky, they are able to grab a couple of people. It really creates hazard for the officers. Very quickly these crowds doing the looting can also and have turned on Police Officers responding and its a very dangerous situation for the officers themselves. Laura yeah. Watching that video, it was terrifying because you dont know who is going to pull a gun out or a knife and everyone is videos so you are afraid to do the wrong thing. Okay that la, your governor, i know you are buddies, governor gavin newsom think the crime concerns some of them are overblown. What is the biggest piece of misinformation that you think this socalled jv squad has been peddling, what concerns you the most . Well, across the board they sell fear and panic around border and crime but they sell common indifference around things like Climate Change fear and panic . We are seeing things in this country we havent seen before take place in major urban areas where a lot of people without money are the ones really hurt the most by these types of vandalism and looting. But, newsom thinks its Climate Change and crime is really a backseat issue. Yeah. I dont know where he is living, but were living in reality. Im here in los angeles. We see the very same crimes like have you seen philadelphia happening here, smash and grabs, a lot of thing, people feeling like theres going to be no accountability so they just do whatever they want and they become career criminals. Its very similar to what we have seen out of philadelphia. And a lot of very metropolitan areas in this country. These are the things affecting our lives daily. If you want to have a conversation about Climate Change, thats fine. Constituents are worried about being robbed. They are worried about their safety. And they are worried about living in a community where their lives are at risk at any given moment. So, gavin newsom needs to put that at the forefront of his brain. That needs to become a priority. I can guarantee the very same man who is going to talk about how much he cares about people of color. How much he cares about the impoverished and they are the ones being directly affected by crime like this. Laura amala, how does this stop . I mean, how do you reach young people who have been fed this nonstop racial propaganda, which is extremely divisive . Well, i think first you have to be unafraid to challenge that narrative and do so directly, right when you are hearing it from the horses mouth. On top of that, we need Law And Order and strict Law Enforcement in these cities. If you have these looters and you round them up and place them in jail and hold them accountable for what they have done, thats going to set an example for anyone else who wants to engage in this sort of behavior. It takes actually voting the people who are responsible for this crime out, philadelphia, in particular, has a d. A. That is particularly soft on crime. Officers continue lack of violent offenders but with then we find them back on the streets committing even more violent crimes, including murder. We have criminals, suburbans Police Departments and questioning in cook county because they know there will be less repercussions for their actions in cook county vs. Surrounding counties. Lawyers lawyer so, scott, it looks like criminals are actually doing their own type of forum shopping. They want to actually go to the jurisdictions where they have the least lowest chance of actually being prosecuted. They are smarter than we think. Yeah. You look at where these incidents have been most frequent, the looting, especially, as we are talking about tonight. Chicago, certainly share of looting in minneapolis. You look at portland, oregon. And its consistent with the kind of partisan demagoguery that we have seen from this white house, which just seeks out, you know, to find people to blame for all the problems that are at hand as opposed to engaging with their own flaws.
