We are hearing so many stories of civilians who have not yet been able to contact their children or husbands in southern israel earlier this morning when hamas Islamic Jihad they focused a Music Festival near the border then went into many border communities we do know at this hour at least one of them still has a Palestinian Militants inside Holding Israeli hostages. A huge problem for Israeli Special forces that are trying to negotiate some sort of terms to get the hostages free. As we do have dozens of civilians and soldiers have been taken by the militants into the gaza strip. We are getting reports that it was really tags headed toward the gaza border and indication there may be some sort of Ground Operation and minutes. I think what you see here obviously with hamas is funded and backed by iran, the largest State Sponsor of terror in the world very, very troubling. That is why just last week i raise serious concerns he had a hearing on the acts about the administrations plan to give 60 billion in funds sanctioned iranian funds back to the iranian government. It is very clear that they want to wipe israel off the face of the earth. They have said it repeatedly and i think a anytime we are given sanctioned money back to iran number one it defeats the purpose of the sanctions and number two it frees up iran to shift funds to hamas money is fungible. By giving them more funds to help with quote unquote humanitarian efforts, when they have shown no willingness to be a good actor on the world stage. I think obviously is very troubling. As a lot of concerns i have right now. The Administration Needs to work with congress to make sure israel has all of the resources that it needs it. The Yom Kippur War 50 years ago nixon moved to get israel all of the weaponry it needed to defend itself. I think we need to take that action and need to take it immediately. That may be but when you are releasing sanctioned money that defeats the purpose of the same ssanction part number two allows the iranian government to use other funds and shift them. Israel has said it will destroy hamas as a result of this terrorist attack, can they . And if so how did they do that . Certainly they are going to conduct a full throated attack against them. Fighters, Attack Helicopters and likely go into gaza itself with ground forces. They are certainly working on detailed plans to do that they are very good at intelligence. I would suspect they got pretty good tactical intelligence and attempting to focus that activity. And listen there is a psychological blow hereto israel that we have not really seen in a very long time. Probably going back to the Surprise Attack we noted in the 73 war. It deals with the fact the indiscriminate rocket and missile attacks that have been a pattern of behavior by hamas and Islamic Jihad the other Terrorist Organization in gaza and also by hezbollah particularly in 2006. The israelis are not known to that they are used to it. They have confidence in their air defense systems. But this attack was focused on the people. The people in their homes. The people still asleep or rising to celebrate a the end of a religious holiday. They struck right in those homes and killed people and took them hostage. That is something they are not used to at all. You have to go back to 1948 in the war of independence to find a similar activity like that. And they werent the focus it was still the military that was the primary focus here. It is a real issue and pressure i believe him Prime Minister netanyahu and his government. The nature of this attack is very different for them. Strategically when i look at it truly what has happened youre e backdrop to this as we are on the cusp of a saudi israel normalization. Theres a lot of work to still be done but clearly the leaders really wanted it to take place when that happens usually a lot of the obstacles fall away. And if that happened it wouldve been such a Paradigm Shift in the middle east a huge sea change in certainly iran do that. Hamas knows that the Islamic Jihad knows that, hezbollah knows that parade they took this opportunity to sabotage it. And certainly to delay the eventual normalization but i dont believe its going to be off the table because the reason why is it pursuing that its in is a Vital National interest to do so. That has not gone away. But clearly this is a strategic issue here is what they wanted to achieve and they will achieve at least being delayed may be significant significantly hopefo significant delay. Jon i want to ask about the hostages back in 2006, an israeli corporal was taken hostage in the same way. Hamas militants came across the board of the terrorist really comic captured him. Tracked him back into gaza he was held for five or six months and all of israel wasnt praying for and hanging on his situation. Eventually he was released. Now youve got the situation they have got apparently dozens of hostages how does that affect the israeli war planners in their thinking . It definitely does for the psychological impact on the nation itself a soldier being taken is one thing. Families being taken hostage and brought into gaza is quite Something Else again. That just adds to the emotional dilemma that they are facing here in dealing with this they want to conduct military actions to suppress further attacks by hamas but at the same time they do not want to kill the hostages who are in the hands and grips of the militants. The israelis are very good at working at tactical levels inside enemy territory. They are masters at this. And believe me they have got it all out approach to this and without saying so the United States is helping them with all the intelligence that we have available.
