It includes soldiers and civilians and the sky over gaza remained lit overnight by retaliatory rockets. Israels military forces opened up fighting nearly two dozen locations yesterday along the gaza border. Officials confirming more than 300 palestinians have been killed in the fighting with thousands more injured. And israeli Prime MinisterBenjamin Netanyahu issued a deadly warning to hamas. All of the places which hamas is deployed, hiding and operating in that wicked city, we will turn it into an island of ruins. I am telling gazas people to leave those places now because we will take action everywhere. Yesterday, President Biden spoke to the potential for the conflict widening, warning other groups in the region not to exploit the situation and saying that the us stands firmly with israel and its people. Israel has the right to defend itself and its people, full stop. Theres never justification for terrorist attacks. And my Administration Support for israels security is rock solid and unwavering. And President Biden has been forced to defend his policies with iran as this conflict in israel unfolds and these attacks become clearer into picture now. But another layer to that is developing as a Senior Adviser to irans Supreme Leader had congratulated hamas for their Surprise Attack yesterday. Guys all right. Thank you for that update. Alexandria it seems like on the hour, the number of dead in israel seems to rise. 350 is a number that to be quite honest with you both, i didnt even see before the show started. So sad continues to rise as the news comes in throughout the morning. The only word that comes to mind as you see more, read more, understand and more of this story is pure and utter savagery. I think during the show yesterday, pete, you had already begun to scroll through your phone and had seen some videos and images that i had not yet seen as i spent saturday reading in understanding and watching more about this story. You really get the grasp that this was a targeted attack, not simply at civilians. That word doesnt carry enough weight. Women, children in the elderly in pure savagery. Yeah you start to understand early morning, house to house, no warning. Almost no warning in so many. And in many cases miles inland. I mean, this is not just, oh, we live 500m from the border fence and hamas showed up. This is we live ten, 12, 15 miles inland. And whether its a paraglider or a motorcycle and then theyre going house to house and will, as you said, specifically identifying women , grandmothers and taking them as hostage deep into tunnels into gaza, which is which further complicates every single aspect of this. Youre right. It is it is savagery. And weve seen it on display. And i mean, look. So it is 5 a. M. Eastern time this attack happened 630. Local israeli time. So imagine, you know, my kids are sleeping right now. Imagine an hour and a half from now, hamas militants, terrorists coming into your home and killing your children , which happened. I read as many as 20 children, perhaps more of the 350 were children that were killed. And one one mother said this. My husband is holding the door of the bomb shelter. Now theyre shooting sprays of bullets at the bomb shelters, window sprays. And my three children are here with me. Its inconceivable. But that was the reality in israel. 6 30 a. M. Local time yesterday. And now were seeing it possibly escalate even more under. So obviously, the Counter Attack has begun and the images you see on the right hand corner of your screen, kayla, you mentioned shebaa farms. Is 15mi■s, did you say . Yes 15mi■s, square mile area . Yeah lets go to the maps real quick and give you a sense of where that location is, because right now, the cameras trained on the left side into Southern Israel. What we focused on yesterday. But ultimately shebaa farms is in the north of israel, which is an entirely different location, karen, as well. So were getting the cameras arranged here. And once we do, we will give you a sense of where were at. So again, yesterday, gaza strip is where these attacks emanated from 250 People Killed across a large swath of Southern Israel. Rockets reaching across the country, much further than they have before. Capability irans missile capabilities with the excuse me, i say iran. That is a mistake. But its not because its all backed by iran. But shebaa farms is up here in the golan heights, a contested area that israel took back years ago, because its such a its such high terrain that commanding that heights means you can command all the way down into judea and samaria, into the valley, Shebaa Heights is up here. The big question yesterday, which will be ongoing today, is what is the extent of hezbollahs involvement in the north against the Israeli Defense forces as well. Hezbollah, meaning the army of god, supported by by lebanon, also supported by syria and iran. It would become a multi front fight. But hezb walla has said if the idf go into gaza, were coming after you. So we shall see how much that escalates this morning. Again, missile strikes. To give you a sense that this is, you know, the state of israel about the size of the state of delaware. So ultimately the reach much further folks that live in tel aviv and its a beautiful Beach Community there. Its a resort area. People go there to hang out on the mediterrane an and be detached from any other of the complications of israel. It was reached by missile strikes. It remains a place where sirens are going off on a regular basis to include israel. And lets just focus in One More Time a couple of dynamics about the south of israel, things weve learned so we know where the rockets have reached. There was fighting guys in 22 different cities in the south of israel that we know of, contested by the idf and hamas communities where hamas showed up without any warning in the morning with rifles killing and targeting civilian civilians. We know there were Hostage Situations in at least two towns in the south of israel, berry, which is about two miles from the gaza strip. But then ofakim, if im pronouncing that correctly, is 15 miles inland. I mean, this is not a minor incursion. This is a full on act of war moving there. And then we also know, guys, theres a kibbutz right here. A kibbutz is a small Farming Community in there, oftentimes small out on the edges of civilization down in the south, there was a naval incursion outside the blockade as well. So in addition to hang gliders, they they were moving by sea again, underscoring the coordinated and complicated nature of it. Before we move on from that map, one of the things that stuck out to me is what you have highlighted in red temporarily captured ram army base. Absolutely. Weve seen these horrific images of people that have been taken hostage from a rave or a trance dance party. Young women, a German National that looks like she lost her life in the back of a truck. These are all awful videos that weve seen on social media that is the location of that of that party. This location right here. Yes also, the images of the fortified army bases, the idf army bases with lines and lines of tracked equipment. Some of its being blown up, some of it being stolen. That to me, i think, this morning, guys, raises questions. How was that not secured . I think its an intelligence failure. Yes. But clearly the idf was caught very much off guard. Normally, youd have more people manning their posts, you would think, or more troops on site. The ability to repel an ad hoc attack. I my experience is not one guarding a base inside the United States of america. Its in foreign countries. But you always have enough troops on watch to repel that sort of attack. And maybe it was because it was not just shabbat, but a high holiday and there hadnt been that conflict for a long time. But it was quickly overwhelmed. And just in watching the hamas fighters there, i think it was more of an instance of a lot of them than it was highly sophisticated and well trained. Youre not seeing them move through towns and stacks with the sophistication you would see of our Special Operators there. Just chaos, more chaos and just counting on on the element of surprise, which you begin to think about the border there. Right . So the status quo there was kind of, you know, hamas always, of course, terrorism targeting israel, but had done so very much from the west bank. And then you look there at the gaza strip and there was kind of the status quo where you had about 17,000 workers crossing the border back and forth through israel. So theyve got to take a hard look at that. Now, to your point, its time to crush hamas as was quoted earlier, because and take a look at that border , 17,000 people. Youve got to imagine that that was used and abused to station people all across the country. To your point, in the interior, to your point, kailey, its time for hamas to be crushed. Thats the sentiment of former president donald trump. He called these these this an act of savagery and blamed on the weakness of the Biden Administration for allowing an environment to see this kind of terrorism. Heres donald trump. The Terror Evasion of israeli territory and the murder of israeli soldier and citizens is an act of savagery that must be and will be crushed and avenge has to be crushed. Israel is at war and the United States has to support israel. We have to support israel. Well, theres been no better president for israel than me. Just a short time ago, we did the historic Abraham Accords. And today we have the exact opposite. A major attack on israel. What a difference a president makes, right . When you were in the Trump Administration, we didnt have major wars breaking out around the world or wars finishing the way they did in afghanistan. What a contrast. You know, when the Trump Administration came in, as Jared Kushner pointed out on the day the Abraham Accords were announced, those peace deals between israel, israel and other countries, he made the point, you know, when we came in, isis was running territory the size of ohio in this region. And what did President Trump do . He came in, he crushed iran. He sent signals of strength killing soleimani, ending the iran deal , essentially bankrupting them or at least unable to fund proxies in the way they have. And then we ended with once in a century peace deals. It was the first time in 25 years that you had seen peace deals of this magnitude. Bahrain uae, morocco, the list goes on. Thats peace through strength. You know, i think one of the things were going to have to reconcile with as we begin to learn and report more on this story is what you described, pete, i think accurately as chaos. This terrorism coming in the form of chaos early yesterday morning. But clearly as well, with the backing of a huge Strategic Plan that must have taken time and logistics to put into place and then the timing, which also does not appear to be the product of chaos. It is the 50th Anniversary of the yom kippur war. It is the last day of succot, the high holiday. It is also on the doorstep of a perhaps peace accord between israel and saudi arabia. And you brought up iran. Iran does not want that to happen. Iran just got a 6 billion infusion from the Biden Administration in a Hostage Exchange deal. Money is fungible. The Biden Administration is going to tell you this morning none of that money went to Something Like this. That all goes none of its been spent yet. And when it is spent, it will all go to humanitarian aid. But what you dont spend on humanitarian aid, you can divert to military and terrorism. So the point is, while it appears chaotic and it was it was planned chaos and terrorism, it has a very strategic purpose. It will be interesting to see saudi arabia. Weve already seen a response from saudi arabia that is highly concerning. Yes, itll be interesting to see netanyahu and israels now full Strategic Response and the Biden Administration all of that is correct. And the we saw a little bit of the glimpse of the reflex of the Biden Administration yesterday. It was the Palestinian Office of the State Department Tweeting out almost immediately, kind of a both sides ism. Yes, right away at the beginning. I mean, thats the kaylee the staffers inside that white house are like reflexive propalestinian millennials who are sitting there just waiting to condemn the Counter Attack, which which puts a much thinner timeline on what Bibi Netanyahu might be willing to do. But if this is your countrys nine over 11, then the response has to be swift and overwhelm thing. And lets hope the rhetoric of the Biden Administration matches their action, at least for a while. I mean, the Reflex Reaction of the Trump Administration would have been a position of Strength Proliferating throughout the administration all the way down to the keyboard warriors, the young people. Yes except for rashida tlaib, who said nothing, who has been silent. The members of the squad that have spoken have done exactly what you just described, which is, okay, now everybody lay down your arms after a horrific day of savagery. Now everybody calm down and lay down your arms. What youre seeing on the right are 14 story buildings being blown to the ground in gaza as as the idf, Israeli Defense forces, identif by legitimate military targets of hamas inside the gaza strip. Unlike the targeting of civilians, we saw on the other side, Images Released by the idf showing, hey, this building is what they used for this. This building is what they used for that. And those buildings no longer exist. But the challenge is that that terror army, because this wasnt just a terrorist attack, this is an army here using terror as a tactic is theyre working underground right now and they have israelis underground in that very dense gaza as well. You also get the feeling were in this this interim period for israel where yet the retaliation hasnt yet been unleashed yet, where netanyahu has given he has said that if you are an innocent if you are a woman or a child, youre not involved. You need to leave gaza. You need to you need to evacuate gaza, because i think his words are specifically it will be turned to rubble. Right. So it is going to be a ferocious, fierce response. And i think right now, the priority is securing Southern Israel, those towns that have been invaded, making sure everyone there is safe, that theyve rooted out the terrorists. And then the attention turns to gaza. Exactly right. Hamas drags women by their hair through the streets. Israel warns women to get out of the way because they will retaliate and they should. And to your point, on the interim nature of it, theyve just mobilized hundreds of thousands of reservists, you know, getting them information, getting them prepared to what what their role might be in a counterattack, that thats going to take a few days as well. Hamas has said they have hundreds, if not thousands of hostages is in in their response. Theyve said they have enough hostages to trade for every single palestinian prisoner. Yeah. So whatever the response is in gaza, theyre going to have as they always do, a human shield.
