We know that the pentagon has also sent some navy assets to the eastern med is a show support during this very difficult time. They say they are at war in the United States<\/a> is planning to stand with them. Hamas likely plan b attacks months in advance. Officials are raising concerns over Israeli Intelligence<\/a> after yesterdays deadly attacks. Joining us now is dan hoffman a former cia station chief and fox news contributor. Thank you for coming on with us. What should we know about that. Hes intelligence failures. What sort of evidence is there that this could have been known. That this was going to happen. This was a massive unprecedented attack where you had Hamas Terrorists<\/a> abruptly a thousand of them crossing over that 37 mild border. Roughly 15 miles into southern israel. They combined air, land and sea attacks against israel. They mustve been planning these operations for months so there was opportunities to collect intelligence. From the Defense Forces<\/a>, the security services. As well as but israel was unable to do that. Intelligence exists to detect threats way out left so they can be preempted before any harm is caused. That is where, unfortunately israel is unsuccessful. They are deterring lebanon and syria from those fronts. But they failed to deter. There will be a postwar reckoning with what went wrong. Right now it is all Hands On Deck<\/a> to prosecute the war. They most certainly are inside of gaza. They need intelligence to know where they are. That is extraordinarily important. I can tell you from my own experience that that is a sort of tactical intelligence that determines whether you are successful or not. We can help israel, but not necessarily in the gaza. Collecting intelligence on iran and hezbollah as well as in syria so israel can focus its efforts. As you have heard with the statements from this white house and President Biden<\/a> speaking with Benjamin Netanyahu<\/a>, israel has the full support of the United States<\/a>. What should the u. S. Do at this point, dan . I think beyond the intelligence collaboration which has always been an incredibly high level from when i served, we can help israel diplomatically. We are doing that already by shoring up some work. That, i think will be important. Providing israel with the Military Equipment<\/a> that they need to carry on what i expect to be a very long war against hamas. Keep in mind, iran will keep to do what they do to keep them in the fight. Millions and millions of dollars as well as Technical Expertise<\/a> to build those missiles out that hamas has used two strike innocent civilians. As far as us watching from here what is happening there, how should this be perceived for all of us here watching at home, dan . Well, i think it is an important opportunity for american citizens just to understand that when they go to sleep at night intelligence professionals are hard at work and if you never care about an attack on the United States<\/a> territory, its not because somebody did not plan it, its because we stopped it. That happens on a very all to regular basis. Our house and Senate Intelligence<\/a> committee track that very carefully. I do think a matter of days a Ground Incursion<\/a> will occur and that is exactly what i think the attack is intended to accomplish that is what we have to be on guard to prevent. Going into very designated targets. They had just brought this extraordinary amount of damage. Both missiles that they fired deep into israel. Captured and kidnapped so many people they succeeded and embarrassed israel, but, the second issue is on the strategic and. Israel is embarrassed, humiliated, but they have the power to recover. I dont know what the endgame is it is possible that they are hoping that this expands beyond the border. May be in iran and certainly and parts of iraq. If that happens, we have a bigger issue. It sounds like it must have been held from iran. This goes all the way back to what happened in the gaza strip going back to 2014. Another one in 2021. They been Learning Lessons<\/a> and seeing how they handle things, how they operate. This was years in the making. They just took this opportunity to attack right now. Lots of internal confusion and chaos within the Israeli Government<\/a> that has caused some problems with their own readiness. How long do you expect this Military Response<\/a> to last . I think it will take some time. It will take some time to master forces to come up with an idea to get ready to go as well as the political decisions.
