Its grown in to obviously signs being held up, cease fire. Are any of the protests from outside that pro palestinian protests making their way inside the Capitol Building there . Weve seen all of these protests here in the Cannon House Office building, this is not in the capitol itself. This is in the Cannon Building across the street from the u. S. Capitol hill. Hundreds are protesting against israel calling for a cease fire. We had a Counter Protest here. This showed up next to me. You had congressman brandon williams, a republican from new york state. He came and stood silently next to me here for some minutes just holding an israeli flag. Holding this over the group downstairs. In the past 30 to 45 minutes, theres been an increased Police Protest here. They have closed off access to the House Office Building to the public. They have asked staffed to stay away. They moved in the Capitol Police and going through this group metho methodically. No violence. U. S. Capitol police right now are going through in a circle, very slowly and arresting these demonstrators. Putting them in flexy cuffs and taking them away. The rules are you can come in to the Capitol Complex and make you point known. You cant cause a disturbance. This has gone on about 1 1 2 hours or so. There was a memo from the sergeant at arms from the House Of Representatives warning of unrest today. They put a small fence and the perimeter of the capitol itself. This is across the street. The capitol is linked underground with the House Office Buildings and the Senate Office buildings. But that was to restrict access there. I should note that were disruptions during the Senate Confirmation hearing this morning for jack lu. The biden administrations nominee to be ambassador to israel. Again, these were antiisrael protesters chanting about gaza and accusing israelis of genocide. This is not cut and dry. Ive not seen any of the palestinian pro palestinian groups have any sort of clash with any pro israeli groups. In fact, ive not seen any direct pro israeli demonstrators inside the Capitol Complex all day long. This is all against israel. Sandra got it. So those that have clashed with police are being removed. We have an update right now that theres a major effort from police to clear protesters that are there right now. Many of the protesters are standing up after sitting down. Theyre moving closer together. The police are leading out those that are being arrested one by one. Does that pair up with what you have seen and heard so far as well, chad . Absolutely. As i look down, you had the entire rotunda floor. This is a floor below where im speaking to you completely covered with demonstrators. That group is down to a third of what it originally was. Still a sizable group. We rarely see a group this big of demonstrators, protesters inside the Capitol Complex. This has dwindled even though its loud and boisterous. They have pulled some buses up out in front of the Cannon House Office building because they need to process these people who theyre arresting for disrupting. So a lot of people. The Arrest Numbers are probably going to be in the hundreds. What they do when they have a protest like this, they give them warning, a verbal warning. Hey, you need to cease an desist. The second warning if you dont cease and desist, youll be arrested. The third time, youll be arrested, this is a very methodical move by the Capitol Police going through the protesters from what i saw inside the Cannon Building. They were very responsive. Very respectful. There was no pushing and shoving or anything like that. And a lot of times when you have these protests of this nature inside the Capitol Complex, its done with the idea that people know theyre going to be arrested. A lot of the groups that protest on a regular basis here in washington d. C. And its almost like stage craft. They know who will be arrested, this is a group that will push the limit, this is a group that is organizing. Theyre slowly but surely arresting the protesters and getting them out of the Cannon Building. Its on our screen right now, chad. Another arrest is being made as this jewish group has arrived with the purpose and capitol hill they say to offer a cease fire in the israel hamas war. Its a large group of protesters. Theyve been sitting at times, standing mostly on their feet and chanting. They are called the group jewish voice for peace.
