We have watched as the armed Law Enforcement officials here that surround this building have also worked to escort the nurses and the doctors and surgeons back and forth to their cars or folks that are coming in standing by, Standing Vigil here determined to keep this medical facility safe. Everything began town fold yesterday evening 6 56. Lewiston began to respond to incidents one at Bowling Alley and another bar. Active Shooting Situation lewiston. By 10 00 officials warn to avoid the area until authorities give the allclear by 10 25. Cran25 countyofficials issuee shelter in place order. Police named robert card as a Person Of Interest in this case. 40 years old. He lives in a nearby town. That is relevant because the car that is also in question here a white subaru was found in nearby lisbon on the way to cards hometown. This is a wooded area. A Small Community but surrounded by a significant amount of woods. And swamp land and lakes and rivers. There is really a tremendous amount of nooks and crannies in this maine landscape. Were beginning to hear from witnesses as well. Many of which are telling horrific stories of chaos and how they survived. Listen. Inside and bowling and out of nowhere he just came in and i heard a loud pop. I thought it was a balloon. I had my back turned toward the door. And as soon as i turned and saw it was not a balloon he was holding a weapon. I just booked it Downtown Lane and i slid basically into where the pins are and climbed up in the machine and was on top of the machine for about 10 minutes until the cops got there. There are so many families that are suffering heart break because of this. And today as the daylight comes and the search continues, they are we are waiting to hear more at a 10 30 Press Conference where get idea what the authorities are planning to do today to bring this to some closure. We heard about the Response Time to the Bowling Alley but we dont know about the bar. My understanding that the Bowling Alley was first but i feel like i should doublecheck on that. Ainsley Bowling Alley and then he drove to the bar 10 minutes away. They are very close together. Four miles. Ainsley what about Family Members. I was reading one lady said my son was playing pool with my exhusband i guess his dad. Next thing i know there was a shooting at the bar. They wont tell us if he is alive or in Critical Condition or passed away. Have they notified Family Members at this point . That story sounds very familiar to similar stories like this where there is a lot of chaos in the aftermath of the shooting or a mass casualty event and people are scrambling to find their loved ones. There there is a Reunification Center set up in auburn. A lot of people going there. The mayor of that Community Came forward in the overnight hours and talked about the people that he is meeting there. The people that are desperate to find answers that are coming n shock and looking for their loved ones. Interestingly he said he has seen teenagers as well. Teenagers and their parents potentially out there bowling in those evening hours were witness witness to this. And also young children. Not necessarily physically there they scene of the shootings but being brought into the center for reunification because theyre looking for someone, looking for a loved one whether thats a parent or a sister or brother or family member. Calder also studied engineering at the University Of Maine from 2001 to 2004. That according to a school representative. Card was last known to be driving a white subaru out back with a black bumper. That was discovered near a boat dock in lisbon, maine. Officials expanding the shelter in place order this morning for residents of lisbon and surrounding environments as Police Continue their search for card. I mean he evidently communicated he is out, he is retired waiting for paperwork to come through. Same thing happened there on his exit . I think he was out of sacco, maine, thats why he wound up two weeks in some sort of an institution. But then they released him. Now there is so many dots that are going to be connected over the next few hours between what happened when he was released and what happened last night. Its going to be tough to find this guy. Im sitting in my hotel room last night with another career Law Enforcement officer mark morgan how know. We both served in the trump administration. We are both career Law Enforcement officers. As soon as the first picture came out who he was. This guy trained. Holding the weapon t the way we were trained. Hand placement and shoulder placement. Get ready. As soon as we saw the first picture this guy is trained and know what he is doing. Makes him more dangerous. Welltrained with that weapon than an amateur. We also both believe this is a planned its a planned operation. He didnt do this spur of the moment. He had a plan. He went shot a few place and plan to get away. He is in a residential area. He could have took went to residential home, took hostages and no one knows he is there. He could be in the woods. Did he have access to another car . Heres the problem, he is militarytrained, right . They are trained how to evade capture from the enemy. His enemy right now is Police Officer. Is he going to be difficult to find. I want you to talk about what Law Enforcement are having to deal with everyone that carries a gun doesnt have the same amount of training when it comes to dealing with firearms. You are looking at a guy 223 going through the vest do. They have their level 3 vest on prepared for someone like this or are we expecting swat to be on the ground to handle some of these searches right now . Look, Law Enforcement has access to a lot of we7s. Not everybody has weapons like a swat teams have. We know the location he was in send the swatted team. Ultimately trained best at what theyre doing. They have the level 3 protective vests with the plates that gives you more protection than average police vest does. I will say this. This isnt a gun issue. I heard people talk about you know, they are already starting to talk and politicize. Its not a gun issue. Its a Mental Health issue. This guy isnt stupid e knows what he is doing. Its not a gun issue. Its a stupid issue. No this is a Mental Health issue. This country has Mental Health problem. We know that there is no plan to deal with it. 45 cfr. Code of federal regulations talks about when a medical professional can communicate with Law Enforcement the guy may be a danger. The problem is every state has their own laws some states have Red Flag Laws. Some yellow flag law. Maine is a yellow flag law state. Every state handles it differently. No clear precise nationwide plan thousand deal with a mental case that has access to weapons and may be seen dangerous to the public and may be very violent. We have to address the issue nationwide. Needs to be one plan to assist aconsistent across the country so a medical professional knows though contact, when to contact. When can you confiscate a gun. All over the place in this country. The Israeli Military says they destroyed a number of antitank guided miflt cells. They also destroyed a number of hamas and Islamic Jihad positions along the border all in preparation for expected ground operation. Rapids up stream and downstream from where they found the vehicle there is a significant dam on that river, so if you are in some kind of boat. Its going to be hard to get up and down that area.
