He added that we will win, talking about his country and the soldiers. I do want to show you what it was like a few moments ago as the strikes were happening just behind us. Take a look. You can see behind me the Israeli Air Force continues to hammer the northern part of the gaza strip with airstrikes and tank fire. [background sounds] they are working around the clock to the destroy targetses while they have Ground Troop Thes inside. The amount of fighting along the border is the heaviest that we have seen since this war erupted on october 7th. You can hear the explosions there. [background sounds] the israelis are still referring to this as an expanded raid, but we know there are tanks, apcs and infantry troops currently inside gaza. On the we have seen airstrikes, Artillery Units active along the border and tracer fire coming from the tanks ask soldiers that are lining up, just waiting for those orders for a broader operation to begin. Jon . Jon yeah, what theyve been doing so far, it seems, trey, is going in, you know, exchanging some fire with hamas and then coming out again. Its, so none of this is the full scale invasion as yet. Reporter thats what the israelis are describing at this point, but our understanding is that since this started last night, the israeli troops have maintained positions on ground inside gaza. You hear in the distance there that outgoing artillery. They are shelling the eastern side of gaza, what the military refers to as softening the target, as the Ground Forces push forward. Its unclear if this entire unit will enter, stay for a few days and pull out or if this is the beginning of that larger operation. Were being very patient with our reporting here and trying to give you what the military is releasing. But we do understand tonight they are trying to target the Tunnel System beneath gaza, a number of locations on the eastern and northern part of the state as you can hear there in the distance, getting hit over and over again. They are trying to use bunkerbuster bombs to get deep underground and hit some of the different positions, likely some more tank the fire there, into the strip. It just gives you a sense of how active this front remains. Jon . Jon obviously, one of the concerns that has to be the hostages. We know that a couple of the israeli hostages who were released say they were held in some of those underground tunnels. So so how does israel know when they attack the tunnels theyre not killing some of hair own hostages or the other hostages, frankly . Off in the distance we can hear some gunfire, there was an a infiltration the alert very close to the northern crossing between israel and gaza, but we should note as it relates to the Hostages Hamas Claims and we havent been able to the independently confirm this information, but hamas is saying 50 people were already killed in israeli airstrikes. And, again, or you hear that gun fire there in the distance. But it is crucial that time is of the essence, and the israelis have sort of change their approach to all of this. Jon i know that, you know, as a doctor and a surgeon, frankly, you have to have a pretty strong stomach. But the things that you saw there must have been absolutely abhorrent. So correct, jon. Well, we saw a whole spectrum, jon, but you know, ironically, what stands out for me most was the visions of a couple of the poor victims. They both happened to be women, one was about probably a 29 or 30yearold young mom, and, you know, when someone dies, the the Physiologic Process<\/a> is that they get into whats called a rigor mortis, the body stiff. Ens. And this one was clutching a teddy bear. And then the other vision that i remember so vividly is a going woman who was presumably a victim of the festival that so many young people were attending, and, you know, she was she had pink sandals on, she had a pink tank top, and i wont describe her injuries, but i will tell you that it really brought it home because these were civilians, moms, children, young people, elderly. I saw the whole spectrum, and it was just horrific. Horrific. Jon hamas has said that they dont Target Civilians<\/a>. Clearly, thats not the case here. You know, based on israels history, they only Target Civilians<\/a>, you know . They may target a few men and women in uniform, but theyre, you know, the rocket ares that are landing all over israel are only targeting civilians, apartment houses, cars on the road.
