Federal courts often will sort of telegraph federal judges, that is, telegraph their view of a case at a preliminary motions phase. Its unusual for a judge to completely dismiss a wellcrafted, which this is, a wellcrafted indictment simply because the defense says, well, the laws are being improperly applied or the espionage law doesnt apply or whatnot. So i suspect that that case at least will go forward. The main problem as i see it for President Trump there is not so much the case as it is the obstruction charges. Now, if a party is in the middle of a trial and all of a sudden exits themselves in the middle of a trial, that can be problematic for the court and for the jury. Simple showing up at different phases of motions hearing or whatnot or a punishment phase, a judge isnt going to be swayed by that. Mr. Trump is playing to the camera and doing it well.
