And we are told by the campaign that those remarks were slated to begin about 445, so in your our charles, we are expecting the former president to take the podium here we dont know if he will route react or make the first on camera remarks about george my seans ruling to delay the sentencing and that hush money, so cold when he tried. But we will be here listening and watching and waiting to see if the former president indeed does remark about that, he did tell Brooke Sigman over the phone earlier today, a few words about this. He said the case was delayed because everybody realizes there was no case and i did Nothing Wrong, its a case that should have never been the case should be dead. Those were word from the president shortly after hearing that the sentencing has been delayed to him after election day. Now hes making this link through a very critical state here and North Carolina, as the first ballots are sort of up in the air. They are at least halted right now and that is because today the State Court of appeals decided the board of elections cannot sent out ballots with robert f. Kennedy Juniors Name on them, at least until his appeal is resolved. That is a big deal here, a big moment for rfk and a big moment for the former president who is of course is courting his supporters. The state now has to decide if they will appeal this decision or if they have to start reprinting all to. 9 million ballots, that will take some time. Here and charlotte where they actually have faster tools to do that, that could still take about a week. Listen to what one a County Official told us. The hardest part is removing itself and it takes second, the hardest part though is once he has removed, we have to start all the testing over here and it will take 56 days to make all that happen. s and recount, every vote matters in the state. Right now trump is just up by one point according to the latest Fox News polling. Rfk is now telling his supporters across the nation to just vote for trump no matter where they live, red state, blue state. Does that matter, he wants to avoid the confusion know because there still states where he is trying and hasnt been able to get off of the ballad. So he is now telling his supporters just to bypass any confusion, just go ahead and vote for the former president. Whats your initial reaction . This is a big victory for Donald Trump, he has had a string of them now, The One at the Supreme Court, he one in the in finding that Counsel Court on constitutional. He and now he just one in new York City which was the only case to get to a berdych was also the weakest ego case. Judge, where sean has vowed to political reality theres no way he could make any decision about sentencing that wouldnt affect the campaign. But what he still has to do is vowed to legal reality. Theres a passage in the Supreme Courts immediate decision was almost a complete victory for Donald Trump, which directly address this case it basically said it had to be retried because they try to use official actions by the president to convict him of something that he was doing not as president. The court said, Judges Cant do that so they eventually either hear or on an appeal will have to throw out this Jury Verdict and have a new trial. Charles same postelection, there is a verdict and with the Trump Team will have to then officially appeal it for him to say its tossed out. How does this work mechanically . Great question, charles. The judge has pushed the Sentencing Date is november 26, he actually all has all this time between now and then to realize he has to ultimately throw out the Old Berdych in order a new trial because the new Supreme Courts immunity decision. But, suppose Donald Trump loses, people may not be as focused on this case as much. This judge might realize the error and his ways and get a new trial going. But suppose he wins, then all of the legal problems will be compounded. Will the judge sentence him to jail, someone who is going to be the president of the unites states in just a few weeks after the Sentencing Date. This opens up a whole can of knew legal problems that our country has never had to face before, because this judge has pushed forward to accelerate to get to a verdict on a case that was the weakest of all of the four prosecutions of former President Donald Trump. Charles doug, lets say Donald Trump wins and inaugurated in january. Does any judge have the ability to take a sitting and sentenced them to the sentenced them to prison . Thats a hard question that we have never had to face before but which they will have to face because of this judge. This judge could avoid the whole problem by saying, yes Supreme Court, i realized this was a risk that mistake. I read your decision, i will throughout the verdict and have a new trial. He could even say they will suspend the new trial until President Trump is done with his time in office. But, given The Way this judge has acted so far, accelerating all the proceedings to get them in before the election, to get the verdict and before the election. He might go ahead and sentenced President Trump anyway. And then trigger a constitutional clash between the federal government, which has an interest in having the elective president serve in office, and the rights of the states. The states have a right to charge people with crimes not in their official capacities. The sensible thing will be for this judge to suspend proceedings and let President Trump continue in office. But if he doesnt, this will have to go up on the appeal and eventually get to the Supreme Court. Charles i only have 30 seconds but i want to squeeze this in, and ocean of the poorest postmortem on laffaire as we have seen on the last year. You think it will be one of those experiments that word just didnt work, it went against the ethics of america . I totally agree, what this decision shows by the judge coming on a string of trump victories. Is that the whole Laffaire Campaign by democrats to prevent the people from rendering their judgement on President Trump in the Ballot Box and trying to funnel it in the courtroom was a failure, but they have broken the door by doing this. And you have to think about how we will how we will restore this. Charles thank you for your time. Folks, heres another question did this delay actually help or hurt trump ahead of the election. We will bring it Wall Street journalist, on one hand the laffaire backfired on democrats. And the more these cases came up, the more entrenched Donald Trumps popularity among many people, in fact i think he got many new followers because people were just so offended that the fact that the legal system was being used this way. Thats absolutely right, the minutes that these trail started. This continue to help him in the primary. I think that you could argue that the democrats actions cemented his victory in the primaries, it might have been of much closer race if that have not happened. On the other hand, i would note that they had many ambitions with this Laffaire Campaign. And they did succeed in and their areas. One of them was to drain a lot of money for Donald Trump, to take up a lot of his time that he might have otherwise been on the campaign trail. And of course to get those headlights, convicted felon. Which for some americans out there, we know from polls was a deciding or will be a deciding factor in their decision not to vote for him. I would like to think that they would understand that this was corrosive to the country and a benefit backfire, but i worried that they will look at those other aspects of it and think, why not do that again. Charles while, i just have a conversation with john. Its hard to believe they wont say , hey, this was a hell of a gambit. Whenever they thought the stakes were but this seems to go against what we are, who we are as a nation. Although i read and article in the new york times, never can fruit never confuse those two. About the constitution. There has been this drumbeat against the constitution itself. Yeah, absolutely. this is it nearly getting enough Tens Attention on the campaign trail. But we have essentially a number of democratic senators on the record, and those that are now running to get in to office. Especially with joe and [ inaudible ] they are not going back to the senate. But these candidates incurred sitting senators are threatening to rip up any other matter of longstanding standards and norms. The filibuster in the senate, people one of their greatest greatest ambitious is to get rid of the Electoral College theres a certain radical as to the democratic party. My worry is that they Cant Win at that Ballot Box unless they change the rules of the game. And that is the kind of motivation that causes people to cast aside global respect for traditions and standards, and norms. Charles ahead of next week debates, we got the drop report. 142,000 jobs were added, far below the estimate. The bigger headline though is massive revision to june and july. Can, within the report itself, the details are really gnarly about the Jobs Picture in this country. How do you think that impacts things . Yeah, you know that the wonder leases to stick that jumped out at me in this report was the extraordinary number and rising number of people who have multiple jobs, there are multiple jobholders sold more than one position to make ends meet. And thats a very bad news but some of the deeper details, not great for Kamala Harris campaign. They needed this summer to be a knock out of the park, to really the people with the impression that things were on the up. That has not materialized for them and for a lot of motors for which the economy relates the number 1 issue, i think this gives Donald Trump a greater opening, especially now that Hes Drilling and more on his economic proposals and talk of what he would do in his next administration. So forgetting about the data for a moment, on the ground of main street, i think people know better what is happening than on the canyons of Wall Street. Yeah, and thats the thing that really struck me is this is to connect, you are on the democratic Sight Side and you are saying look at all the numbers and we have the best economy ever. People note thats not true, they feel it, they go to the store, they deal with inflation, they worry about their jobs or having to take parttime jobs, or multiple jobs to make ends meet. They cringe every time they have to go to the gas station, that is what drives voters sentiment on that this. Not a bunch of grass and what the candidates say, how americans actually feel. Charles it feels assaulting a little bit, really quick i have to ask you about Rfk Junior taking his name off the ballot. Your reaction on how this will impact the race because those are two major states. Every Vote Counts and if you look at the polling as rfk was getting out of the race, he had four percent of voters supporting him in most of the swing states. And places like you know, where this is a razor they margin. Those votes are absolutely consequential, they could totally swing the election two for instance in Donald Trump and voters go to him. But the question of getting his name off the ballot in voters are confused and they continue to vote for rfk rather than Donald Trump, that could make a huge difference. You say, we are in danger of losing our way. What do you mean . Because, this is a democracy and the republic, when we say voting, we dont leave grabbing something honest street and getting them to sign in. We meet voters who have an understanding of the facts related to the contrary, of the candidates on where they stand and can make informed judgements. If the people do not get information about the candidates, how they can debate, what their policies are, how they handled the questions, how they already. How can they make intelligent choices . If the voters dont make intelligent choices, over time we are going to lose our way. Charles recently reading about the wars, and even back then that was a big issue. A lot of misinformation about who can diet all of that, and the author made in a blazing point that stuck with me. That normally the news people here, the first time or whatever they hear as the news, thats what they always remember and they never bother to get the facts. Is it the medians respond ability responsibility, whose responsibility is it that youre talking about . First and foremost, its the responsibility of the voters. Second, if the response of mainly cloudy of socalled nonpartisan groups. Many of whom became artisan rather than stick to their basic mission of ensuring that there were three president ial debates, one on foreign policy, right before the Republic And President ial cycle. I think it they got partisan and then the third, the press. I worked campaigns, if we didnt go down to the press every two days, three days at most, they would be hysterical. And they were demanding answers to the questions of the day. Charles its hard to deny that the present has become so partisan, that there is actually parts of campaigns rather than reporting on campaigns. Yeah, while thats a big problem, but the most important problem here is, of owner has to make an informed vote because i will even say, its less about who wins because over time, as long as the voters can pick the candidates that really reflect their views and i think we will be okay. And so i am worried about this trend and interesting link interestingly i have a new poll out today, harbour caps poll. Has the race 50 50 write down down the middle, razorthin. Charles right, into your point. We are republic and this is the best form of government, but even republicans can even. [inaudible]. I want to get to get your reaction on the delay of the sentencing until after the election. And i think this whole face has left a bad taste in everybodys mouth. Yeah, you know, im against loft there as interfering with, again with peoples basic right to vote. I think some of these things that we have seen where people are trying to knock off people from the ballot unfairly. Or now, they are even trying to keep rfk on the ballot when he asked to be withdrawn. Because im glad the judge kicked the sentencing down, that would be an explosive bombshell one way or the other right in the middle of the election. I dont really think of that much of that entire case. Is built upon one kind of spacious reading of the law, over the other. And so i think the judge ultimately since he has done one partisan ruling after another, frankly i think he was worried that if he sentenced drug to judge, you might be electing him which is clearly the opposite of what he intends. Thats another thing, lets talk more about the article, and by The Way President Trump is said to address the fraternal order of Police. They just gave him his endorsement. And see how bp Kamala Harris is running as the quoteunquote Law Enforcement. What do you have to say about that . Look, i think its important, i think ryan is certainly among the top five issues in this election. The Police image actually has come back really quite strongly over the last year and a half. People have become more concerned about crime and was happening to criminals. Looking at that, i think she has muddied the water as an express acute or. But we asked some questions, and people do believe if youre looking for more of what we used to call a lot of order candidate. Trump is clearly ahead of that variable, and i believe a Police Endorsement will be a net positive. Ch
