FREEPORT — A Freeport man has been cited for allegedly intimidating voters. Dell Wasso, 53, of Freeport, is accused of pressing a "vote Democratic sign" against the window of a vehicle as it was being parked outside of a polling location and attempting to intimidate the occupants as they were exiting the vehicle, Freeport Police Chief Matt Summers said Thursday. Summers called the offense a city ordinance violation and said Wasso was issued a notice to appear. Police are also investigating complaints that political campaigning took place too close to several polling locations Tuesday in violation of state election laws. The majority of the complaints involved individuals handing out election-related materials and displaying signs in close proximity to voting sites.
