Fresh off competition win, Sweet Encounter to bring culinary classes, bakery to Lansing's downtown View Comments LANSING - When Nikki Thompson Frazier was growing up in Muncie, Indiana her family's kitchen was a playground. She spent her time there, baking and cooking alongside her mother. "My mom used to say I loved pots and pans more than I loved my toys," Thompson Frazier, 44, said. "I always played in the kitchen as a kid." She never lost her passion for food, but it would be another three decades before Thompson Frazier would make a career out of it. She studied journalism at Indiana University and earned a master's degree in communications at Ball State University.
