A senior at Friendsâ Central School, Kayla Foy has been a volunteer with the Black Doctors COVID-19 Consortium, an organization that has helped test more than 15,000 people for COVID-19. As a volunteer, she has gathered information such as race, gender, ethnicity and medical conditions of those tested for COVID-19. Because of her work as a frontline healthcare worker, Kayla Foy was one of the first people in the region to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. She took a short pause in volunteering with BDCC last September to focus on her advanced Friendsâ Central classes, ACT preparation, and college admission (and has received scholarships to two colleges recently.) Kayla Foy will resume volunteering on a full-time basis for her senior project in early spring. She also is one of the leaders of the Black Student Forum at Friendsâ Central, and she participated in the Annenberg Symposium in 2020. Kayla Foy also has participated in Orchestra (viola), basketball and weightlifting at Friendsâ Central.
