Ten years ago, a series of devastating floods had left Brisbane's suburbs swamped and its CBD an archipelago. But, the Herald reported, "this was a catastrophe on a good day."

QUEENSLAND FLOOD CRISIS
THE river fell all day. Even the fears of another flood on the afternoon high tide were unrealised. As the day went on the river cleaned itself out. The debris was all but gone. The last of the yachts had been swept away. Gulls were back. There were reports of a shark cruising the streets of Ipswich.
