Dianah Motlou, the individual who was in charge of contracts at Kusile, has been implicated in alleged corrupt activities involving Eskom and the Kusile Power Station. MyBroadband reports that Motlou received nearly R50,000 from contractors, toward the school fees of Motlou’s child. One of the contractors entangled in the latest corruption is Tubular Construction Projects. In an earlier interview with BizNews (see below) corruption-buster Paul O’Sullivan told the Power Hour about the company’s involvement with corrupt activity. In April, former Eskom contractor Michael Lomas was arrested in connection with a R745m fraud involving the Kusile Power Plant. Lomas was a former consultant of Tubular. “According to O’Sullivan, Trindade started a company – now known as the Tubular Group. In 2008, he made contact with Michael Lomas, offering him the opportunity to come on board as a consultant. Lomas acted as a consultant for a number of years. “During that period, I suppose, there were issues at Kusile – which were a mixture of engineering and contractual issues.” Listen to the full interview below.
