Cumberland Times-News Dec 17, 2020 CUMBERLAND â Garrett and Allegany counties continued to lead the state in coronavirus positivity rate Tuesday, as health officials in both counties reported a surge of new cases and deaths. Garrett Countyâs death toll rose to 28 after eight COVID-19 related deaths since Monday. The age range of the 28 deaths is 59 to 99, health officials said. The county also added 52 new cases, raising its total to 1,292. âWe want to extend our condolences to everyone who is experiencing sickness and the loss of loved ones during this pandemic,â said Garrett County Health Officer Bob Stephens. âThe numbers of illnesses and deaths are individual people, and are not just numbers to us. We are asking everyone to follow the recommended safety precautions and to do whatever they can to reduce the impact of COVID-19 on everyone.â
