Find the full details in the forecast coming soon. The forecast coming up soon. Very good morning to well a very good morning to you. You. Im Martin Daubney and im anne and is anne diamond and this is breakfast news. Now, as breakfast on gb news. Now, as you may know, im not a particular fan of Rupert Murdoch, but i defend his right to get married when the heck he likes. Hes been married quite likes. Hes been married quite a few times. Six times or something. This will be his sixth. And. And theres that old chestnut. What attracted you to the multi millionaire Rupert Murdoch . Yes, i know, but he must know that hes a clever man. He must know that part of his sex appeal is money. But think is his money. But do you think he has appeal at all, if he has sex appeal at all, if youre asking me, im never going to say yes, am i . But but, you know, clearly he does. I you know, clearly he does. I mean, power does. Power is an aphrodisiac. Certainly. And a lot of women are are very much attracted to power , and hes got attracted to power, and hes got that and hes got money and he probably, you know, he obviously loves even at the age of 92. Plus he loves to have an attractive woman on his arm. So its a chilling thought. The thing a chilling thought. The thing a chilling thought. The thing a chilling thought. The thing that i always think about this is what are the kids think . Because obviously hes got a few bob. Yes. And are they gold is it genuine love . Its Amanda Platell in the columnist the daily mail has columnist in the daily mail has written of on the written quite sort of on the nose article about it today. And she said , you know, ill bet you she said, you know, ill bet you his kids who some of whom are as old as the woman that hes marrying or very nearly as old, i think his eldest child is two years younger than the woman hes marrying now. And thats a bit odd, isnt it . Yeah, but before previous wives have been younger his children. Younger than his children. I mean, happens a lot, mean, that happens a lot, particularly with powerful rich men, think, they will be men, i think, but they will be making sure that dad gets a really good prenup. But i dont know whether they would have to advise hes advise him, because hes a clever as i said, hell clever man. As i said, hell know that money be part of know that money will be part of the deal. Theyve got their own and theyve got their own cash. You know, the murdochs arent few bob arent without a few bob themselves. Very themselves. Theyve got very successful as in successful careers. But as in the show, there is the succession show, there is that kind of avaricious streak of, theyre just trying to of, oh, theyre just trying to take dads money. Yes, course, but why yes, of course, but why shouldnt isnt it better shouldnt he . Isnt it better than lonely. Why shouldnt than being lonely. Why shouldnt he wants to at he get married if he wants to at any and i just wonder if any age . And i just wonder if youve got story of anyone in youve got a story of anyone in your family that might have your family that you might have thought shouldnt be. You thought they shouldnt be. You know, shouldnt be getting know, they shouldnt be getting into sort thing. Theyre into that sort of thing. Theyre old they, you know, how dare old and they, you know, how dare an person love life an old person have a love life or that. I wonder or anything like that. I wonder if ever come up in your if its ever come up in your family, whether you have family, or whether you have maybe love in older age. Maybe found love in older age. And isnt a gazillion times and isnt it a gazillion times better than being on your own . Yeah, youve got to be careful. His age, though. You might not make it through the wedding might not make it through the we hes done all so far. Hes done all right so far. Yes, hes done all right. So far. Apparently he he dumped. This the press say. And this is what the press say. And of he knows bit too of course, he knows a bit too about the press , that he dumped about the press, that he dumped jerry hall by yeah well, jerry hall by email. Yeah well, thats like phil collins was fax. Yes. Yes. Thats right. Yeah. Thats right. Yeah. Thats right. Yeah. Brutal. And to the point, i guess when youre that powerful, its just another transaction. Also, youve probably had an awful lot of arguments face to face, and the face, havent you . And in the end, youve had enough and end, youve just had enough and you a pretty brutal fax you send off a pretty brutal fax or email. But it hasnt or email. Yeah, but it hasnt stopped him. He was engaged to stopped him. He was engaged to somebody a few months somebody else just a few months ago, that didnt last. The ago, but that didnt last. The engagement didnt last engagement itself didnt last long, this he is going long, but this lady, he is going to quite soon, i think, to marry quite soon, i think, because there you are. Tell us what your thoughts are on marriage in later life and love in later life. I think its quite sweet in a way. I mean, you know, its got all the in the world, all the money in the world, isnt want for anything, but he just wants love. Just wants. He wants love. Yeah, wants love. And he yeah, he wants love. And he wants a lovely on his arm wants a lovely lady on his arm and he wants to. He obviously still goes these dos still goes to these big dos and i dont not. If youve i dont know why not. If youve got it, flaunt it i say, but not on this occasion. I wish him well. I hope it lasts, at least for a while now. Weve got plenty of interesting plenty of very interesting and some things some very controversial things to today. As to be talking about today. As you have heard, the these you will have heard, the these pro palestinian demonstrations are going to go ahead today. It being saturday for the First Time Since that Counter Terrorism , the man Counter Terrorism tsar, the man who advises the government on Counter Terrorism things. Well, Counter Terrorism things. Well, he said yesterday and it made all of the papers or all of the programmes yesterday, didnt it, that certain parts london had that certain parts of london had become no go areas forjews. Yeah. And thats robert simcox. He said that. And this protest follows accusations by the chair of the Foreign Affairs select committee that israel is also blocking aid into gaza. Yes. And then that comes as protest group Palestine Action says spray and slash. If youre listening on the radio, its an awful thing to see actually any painting being completely slashed to bits. Completely slashed to bits. Spray painted. It was a picture, a painting of lord balfour. It happened at the university of cambridge. Cambridge. Yeah, its a grotesque act of vandalism. And the group claims the piece symbolised the bloodshed of the Palestinian People since the Balfour Declaration in 1917. Well, our Political Correspondent, Katherine Forster has been following the protests. Has been following the protests. There are forces here at home trying to tear us apart to advance a divisive, hateful, ideological agenda. Dont let the extremists hijack your marches. That was the Prime Ministers appeal last week. Today, another pro palestine march, hundreds of thousands marching against a war 2000 miles away in gaza with over a thousand Police Officers on duty. The governments counter extremism tsar warns london is becoming a no go area for jews, saying the uk has forjews, saying the uk has a permissive environment for radicalisation. Since october radicalisation. Since october the 7th, theres been dozens of marches across the uk, mostly pro palestine, some pro israel incidents of anti semitism and anti Muslim Hatred have surged. Anti Muslim Hatred have surged. Many are marching simply against the horrors unfolding in gaza. I feel helpless, i cant sleep at night. Im watching this genocide and i will do everything i can in my power to march against it. These marches have been peaceful. Theyve been full of dogs and children and the people of london. Ive been a londoner. Ive been living here all my life, and im actually proud of the people in london today. Not everyone is so but not everyone is so amenable. Dozens been amenable. Dozens have been arrested, and policing the protests cost some £25 protests has cost some £25 million by the end of last year. The police are under pressure to get tougher. Get tougher. You can freely criticise the actions of this government or indeed any government. You cannot use that as an excuse to call for the eradication of a state or any kind of hatred or anti semitism. This week ive anti semitism. This week ive met with senior Police Officers and made clear it is the publics expectation that they will not merely manage these protests, but police them. And i say this to the police we will back you when you take action, but without changes to legislation. Gb news understands policing at todays march will be no different to before , and met different to before, and met police chief sir mark rowley is standing his ground. Were obviously operating in a very challenging political environment where tensions remain high. We have to police the law as it is not as others would wish it to be. Mayor of london sadiq khan is unimpressed. The police have operational independence. I think its really unfortunate when politicians give the impression they can tell the police what to do. Look, if the Prime Minister is telling the police today which marches to allow which marches to ban, whats to stop him tomorrow, telling the police to who arrest, who to charge, to who to arrest, who to charge, who prosecute. We dont live who to prosecute. We dont live in korea. Dont live in in north korea. We dont live in russia. Live in the uk. That russia. We live in the uk. That being said, id encourage anybody on a protest to anybody going on a protest to please cognisant of the fact please be cognisant of the fact that you can say things that cause real concern, fear. So another saturday, another march, until theres a genuine, lasting ceasefire in gaza, there will be more. Katherine forster. Gb news. Burley well, joining us now is former special adviser to michael gove. Charlie rowley. Charlie, welcome to the show. Here we are again another saturday, another march. But the pubuc saturday, another march. But the public mood seems to be changing , robert simcox, the home Affairs Independent adviser on extremism, is saying that these marches are becoming infected with extremists. Rishi sunak seems to be asking for tougher policing. Sir mark rowley saying, well, leave us alone. Take the politics out of policing. No go zones forjewish policing. No go zones forjewish people is what the conclusion is, and yet theyre still going ahead. Yes i think thats right. And i think look you know, the whole point of the policing of the protest is to make sure that people do have the right to protest. You can protest peacefully. That is an underlying right have in underlying right that we have in this something that we this country, something that we always, sometimes take always, i think, sometimes take for you cant for granted, because you cant do many other countries do that, in many other countries in world and many of the in the world and many of the other countries that they happen to supporting, is to be supporting, which is ironic. But got ironic. Exactly. But youve got to everybody to make sure that everybody in the feels as safe the United Kingdom feels as safe as they possibly can. And when you weekend after weekend you hear weekend after weekend chants of jihad or chants or seeing banners or posters or seeing banners or posters or seeing people as part of these protesting protest groups tearing down hostage posters, posters of those that are still hostage to the terrorist organisation hamas. It stokes tensions. It doesnt sort of reduce those those conflicts within the uk. So youve got to within the uk. So youve got to make sure that people that are on these protests are protesting peacefully to make sure that london can be or any other city centre for that matter, can be as safe as it possibly can be for anyone of any creed, any religion, any colour, any sexual orientation, that. Orientation, anything like that. So to get so the police do need to get tougher, i think, those that tougher, i think, on those that are not protesting peacefully or in of what in the spirit of what the protests should be. And thats what minister is what the Prime Minister is asking last week. Asking for. Last week. Mean, the freedom to the i mean, the freedom to the freedom that we enjoy in this country, protest, is, if you country, to protest, is, if you like, to politicians, like, up to the politicians, the way it to make sure way you police it to make sure they are abiding by the law is up to the police. And the politicians keep stressing that, dont they . Its not our job to ban this or ban that. It is. It is up to the police , to police is up to the police, to police it, and rishi sunak was very adamant that, you know, if you want to take action. He said to the police, we will support you. I just if that those i just wonder if that those words are going to make a difference. Well, well have to find out later on today, i suppose. But i think its the consistency, the level of policing consistency that want in this country that people want in this country where officers. Where you see Police Officers. We saw videos on social we saw some videos on social media, i think week or the media, i think last week or the week sort of, you know, week before, sort of, you know, confronting that confronting people that were, i think, just religious activists outside church preaching, you outside a church preaching, you know, god, christians preaching god, have god, where the police might have taken approach taken a heavy handed approach compared of the chanting compared to some of the chanting that you see the streets on a that you see on the streets on a saturday night where they just let protesters on by. Let those protesters walk on by. So element so its the element of consistency i people consistency that i think people want comes to policing. Want when it comes to policing. But ultimately youve got to make a everybody the make sure a everybody in the united or in United Kingdom or anyone in london other Centre London or any other city centre where a protest taking where theres a protest taking place feel safe, and place that people feel safe, and if its not the case, then the police to, i think, step police need to, i think, step in. Well, h issue is the police well, the issue is the police have the power to enforce, but do they have the will to enforce . Wednesday, enforce . Now that wednesday, when projecting those when they were projecting those images i went into images onto big ben, i went into that protest. It on my way that protest. It was on my way home. Was at the westminster home. I was at the westminster studio the studio and i could see the projector clearly. I projector very clearly. And i said police, thats an said to the police, thats an offence. You need a licence to do that because i know the law. What are you going to do, go and arrest no arrest them . They had no interest. Throwing interest. They were throwing eggs had no interest eggs at me. They had no interest in anything about it. They in doing anything about it. They were throwing fluids. It could have anything. They no have been anything. They had no interest. To the interest. I was saying to the police, that got police, that guys got a balaclava now illegal. Go balaclava thats now illegal. Go and they had no and arrest him. They had no interest. Stand off interest. The police stand off on protests. And on these protests. And yet i went on the Armistice Day protest they waded in with protest and they waded in with batons. Think have two batons. I think we have two tiered policing, and thats self evident. Do you think . Self evident. What do you think . Jolly i certainly jolly well, i think certainly projecting house of parliament. I mean, isnt old i mean, this isnt any old pubuc i mean, this isnt any old public building. Is the public building. This is the houses parliament. You know, houses of parliament. You know, where were. The projection where they were. The projection was to the sea. Was from the river to the sea. Now therell be lots of people that come shows like this and that come on shows like this and say so many say that that has so many different but the different meanings. But the reality is an offensive reality is it is an offensive terme community. Terme to the Jewish Community. T
