GLCYD gets funding to promote volunteerism during pandemic

MARQUETTE, MI--   Marquette organization Grow and Lead: Community and Youth Development has received a portion of $200,000 in grants to help with COVID-19 response and recovery.
The Michigan Community Service Commission received the money from a grant through AmeriCorps. GLCYD is one of 13 organizations in the state that will partner with the commission to launch the Michigan Community Resilience Program. It will provide technology, training, and technical assistance for nonprofits as they continue to respond to the pandemic through volunteering and donating, and help youth be engaged with developing solutions to address challenges.
Michigan Community Service Commission Executive Director Ginna Holmes says her group wants to “…tap into Michigander’s grit and determination to help others and start a volunteer movement.”
