Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter pilot Barry McAuliffe said the helicopter was returning to Nelson from a medical transfer to Christchurch Hospital when it was called to a job in Takaka around 4pm on Wednesday. A man in his 20s had an accident that resulted in burns to his legs, arms and face area. He was picked up from the Golden Bay Community Health Centre. St John communications advisor Gerard Campbell said the man was taken to Hutt Hospital with serious injuries.
