Saskatchewan Party MLAs shot down an NDP attempt to create a $10,000 minimum fine for organizers of rallies contravening public health orders, with the justice minister calling it “redundant” in light of existing penalties.
Nicole Sarauer, the NDP MLA for Regina Douglas Park, countered that no minimum fine currently exists. She tried to slide her proposal into a government bill amending the Emergency Planning Act during a committee meeting on Saturday.
