DURHAM – Air Force veteran Chris Guerrette's aspiration to own a candy shop started while he stationed in Afghanistan in 2008, long before it came to fruition on the Seacoast. As soon as he heard the phrase "lickees and chewies," an Air Force term for snacks, he knew that would be the name of his future candy store business. Guerrette finally got the opportunity in December 2014, when he purchased The Candy Bar & Creamery in Durham. As a new and inexperienced business owner, he sought the advice of Warren Daniel, the Seacoast regional director for the New Hampshire Small Business Development Center. Daniel worked closely with the previous owner, and helped Guerrette learn the ins and outs of not just owning a business but growing it.
