Governor Whitmer signs bill for state flooding relief, law enforcement support and more By Will Kriss Jul 26, 2021 | 6:09 PM LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) â Monday, Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed Senate Bill 27, which appropriates $384.7 million in supplemental relief funding. The funding will support the recovery of individuals, families, and small businesses to help them emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic in a stronger position, Whitmer said. A total of $367.7 million is from federal COVID relief funding that was authorized through the federal Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, while another $17 million is from the stateâs general fund. âRight now, our top priority remains moving our state and economy forward so that Michigan families and small businesses can emerge stronger than ever,â Whitmer said in a statement. âThis is another example of the good things that can happen when we work together and put Michiganders back to work. I also appreciate the good-faith efforts by members of the legislature to help us deliver financial assistance for families recovering from unprecedented flooding and additional funding to support local law enforcement so that they can keep our families safe. We are going to continue putting Michigan families and small businesses first as we get things done for our state.â
