Governorâs Economic Jumpstart Plan calls for subsidizing wage increases, help for childcare By Ken Delaney Jun 3, 2021 | 3:17 PM LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) â Governor Gretchen Whitmer Thursday unveiled her Michigan Economic Jumpstart Plan, which she says would allocate a portion of the federal relief funding to support and invest in working people and small businesses in Michigan. Under the governorâs plan, the state will increase incentives to boost wages to attract applicants, provide grants to small businesses to ramp up hiring, and expand access to childcare for families with young children who want to return to work but cannot. The plan will still needs approval from the state legislature.
